Missing LaTeX symbols in equation editor

I noticed that some LaTeX symbols do not work in the equation editor.  Some examples are the "is congruent to" symbol (\cong), "is perpendicular to" (\perp), and the "therefore" symbol (\therefore).  In addition, the equation editor is missing some other formatting things, including \overrightarrow, \overleftarrow, \overset, and \underset.  Is there something special I have to do to make these work?  If they are not supported at all, are there plans to support them at some point?

Tried in the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox on Windows (7) and Linux (Ubuntu 10.10), although I do not think my browser or OS would affect this.
