Remove image backgrounds in Google Drawings, Slides & Vids

The option to remove image backgrounds is rolling out gradually and may not be available to you yet.

Remove an image's background

Important: Vids generative AI features, like "help me create" and image background removal, are only available in English at this time

1. Click an image in a drawing in Google Drawings, a slide in Google Slides, or a scene’s canvas in Google Vids.
2. Click Edit image Remove background.
   • You can also remove the background from the Format menu: At the top, click Format Image Edit image Remove background.

Tip: Images with removed backgrounds can't be reset with Reset image. To go back to the original photo, click Undo or go to "Version history."

Give feedback on image background removal

Do not submit data that contains personal, confidential, or sensitive information because feedback can be read by humans.

To give feedback:

1. In the bottom left corner, click Good suggestion or Bad suggestion .
   • If you select Bad suggestion , select the issue you found and enter additional feedback.
2. Select Submit.
