Add third-party verification to a creative

To prevent serving ads on the wrong sites, you can wrap creatives with technology from third-party verification services.

If you use a verification service to report on where your ads serve, you must remove anonymous inventory from your line items.
Tips to save you time:

Add verification to display creatives

First upload creatives to either Campaign Manager 360 or Display & Video 360 to generate a tag. Next, send the tag to your third-party verification service, who sends you back a wrapped tag. Then replace the original Display & Video 360 tag with the wrapped tag.

Supported services

Display & Video 360 supports third-party verification for display creatives with Integral Ad Science and DoubleVerify, but other post-bid third-party verification services should work.

Display creatives synced from Campaign Manager 360

Follow these steps to wrap a Campaign Manager 360-hosted creative with tags from a third-party verification service.

Note: When you wrap Campaign Manager 360-hosted display creatives, Display & Video 360 does not sync cost data to Campaign Manager 360.
  1. Sign in to Display & Video 360.

  2. Open an advertiser and click Creatives in the left menu.

  3. Find and open the display creative you want to add verification to.

  4. In the Creative details tab, expand the Additional details section, then click Use custom tag wrapper.

  5. In the Tag text box, copy the entire creative tag. Send it to your verification service to have the tag wrapped. Then wait for the verification service to return your wrapped tag.

  6. Once the verification service sends you the wrapped tag, open the creative in Display & Video 360. Expand the Additional details section, then select Use custom tag wrapper.

In the text box, select the existing tag code and delete it, then paste the wrapped tag from the verification service into the text box.

  7. Save the creative.

The creative will automatically use the third-party verification service whenever it serves.

Note: You won't be able to preview the tag outside of Display & Video 360 until you re-traffic the wrapped creative tag.

Display creatives hosted by a third-party

To save time, wrap your third-party tags before uploading them into Display & Video 360. Otherwise, follow these steps to wrap an already uploaded third-party hosted creative with tags from a third-party verification service.

When you use a Campaign Manager 360 tracking placement to track third-party creatives, make sure there's only one creative assigned to the placement. Otherwise you won't be able to track which creative is being served.
  1.  Sign in to Display & Video 360.

  2. Open an advertiser and click Creatives in the left menu.

  3. Open the display creative you want to add verification to.

  4. In the Creative details tab, find the Third-party tag text box. Copy the entire creative tag and send it to your verification service to have the tag wrapped. Then wait for the verification service to return your wrapped tag.

  5. Once the verification service sends you the wrapped tag, return to the creative's details page in Display & Video 360 again. In the Third-party tag text box, select all of the existing tag and delete it, then paste the wrapped tag from the verification service into the text box.

  6. Click Test tag and test the creative.

  7. Save the creative.

The creative will automatically use the third-party verification service whenever it serves.

Add verification to video creatives

To add verification to video creatives, first upload creatives to either Campaign Manager 360 or Display & Video 360. Because video creatives serve via a VAST URL, there's no tag to wrap. Instead, you'll request a verification-wrapped VAST URL with the added macro ${DC_VAST_URL} from your third-party verification service. You'll then add the wrapped URL to the creative in Display & Video 360.

Supported services

Currently only the following third-party verification providers are approved for serving:

  • DoubleVerify
  • Integral Ad Science

If you attempt to use a wrapper from an unapproved provider, you'll see an error.

VAST URL limit

VAST URLs can be up to 1,024 characters long.

Video creatives synced from Campaign Manager 360

Before you get started, ask for a wrapped VAST URL including the macro ${DC_VAST_URL} from your verification provider. The macro will be replaced with the correct VAST URL at serving time. Wrapped VAST URLs can be up to 1,024 characters.

After you get the wrapped VAST URLs, update your creatives:

  1. Sign in to Display & Video 360.

  2. Open an advertiser and click Creatives in the left menu.

  3. Open the video creative you want to add verification to.

  4. In the Creative details tab, expand the Additional details section, then select Use custom tag wrapper.

  5. Paste the wrapped VAST URL in the empty Tag field. Make sure it includes the macro: ${DC_VAST_URL}.

  6. Save the creative.

The creative will automatically use the third-party verification service whenever it serves.

Note: You won't be able to preview the tag outside of Display & Video 360 until you re-traffic the wrapped creative tag.
