Add a tracking pixel to creatives

Help advertisers and agencies record impressions

A "tracking pixel" is a URL used in a creative to record an impression in an advertiser's system. This URL is added to your DFP creative's code so that it can tell the advertiser when the creative has been displayed.

A tracking pixel counts an impression in your advertiser's system each time you view the creative, including previews in DFP.

Get the tracking pixel from your advertiser

Ask your advertiser to send you the tracking pixel URL they'd like to use, along with any special instructions. The tracking pixel URL might look like this:

Add the tracking pixel to your advertiser's creative

Once you have a tracking pixel URL from your advertiser, you need to add it to the creative they'd like to track.

  1. In DFP, click Delivery and then Creatives to create a new third-party creative or find an existing third-party creative your advertiser would like to track. You can only add tracking pixels to the "third-party" and "custom" creative types.
  2. In the code snippet field of the creative settings, insert the tracking pixel according to your advertiser's instructions or using one of these <img> tag variations at the top of your code snippet:

    <img src="TRACKING-PIXEL-URL" style="position:absolute;visibility:hidden">
    <img src="TRACKING-PIXEL-URL" style="display:none">
    <img src="TRACKING-PIXEL-URL" width="0" height="0">

  3. Click Save.
