If you’re experiencing any of the following issues, try the troubleshooting steps below:
- The Google Home app can’t find your Google Nest or Home speaker, display or cast device(s) when attempting to set up your device.
- Your cast device isn’t appearing as an available device when casting from an app.
Step 1. Make sure that local network access is enabled
- On your iOS device’s home screen (iOS 14 or later), tap Settings.
- Tap Privacy Local network. You’ll find a list of apps.
- Turn on local network access for the app(s) that you would like to allow network access. This will allow permissions for your device to discover Cast-enabled devices.
Step 2. Complete the initial checklist
Make sure that your device is:
- Nearby (within 6 m).
- Plugged into a wall socket.
- Powered on. The LED light on the side or back of the device will be white.
Step 3. Verify settings
- Tap your iPhone’s Home button Settings Wi-Fi.
- Connect to the Wi-Fi network that matches your Chromecast, TV or speaker with Chromecast built-in, Google Home, or TV or speaker with the Assistant. Look for something like GoogleHomeXXXX or ChromecastXXXX>
- Navigate back to the Google Home app.
