Follow the steps in this article if you’re experiencing any of the following:
- The Google Home app can’t find your Google Nest or Home speaker, display, or Cast device(s) when you set it up.
- Your Cast device doesn’t show up as an available device when casting from an app.
Step 1: Turn on Local Network Access
- Open Settings.
- Tap Privacy & Security
Local Network. You’ll find a list of apps.
- Turn on Local Network for the app you’d like to allow access to your network. This lets your device discover Cast-enabled devices.
Step 2: Complete the initial checklist
Make sure your device is:
- Nearby (within 6 meters).
- Plugged into a wall outlet.
- Powered on. The LED light on the side or back should be white.
Step 3: Verify settings
- Unlock your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap Settings
Wi-Fi.
- Connect to the Wi-Fi network that matches your device. This includes Chromecast, TV or speaker that works with Google Cast, speaker or display, or TV or speaker with the Assistant. Look for something like GoogleHomeXXXX or ChromecastXXXX.
- Navigate back to the Google Home app
