We're aware of an emerging issue impacting Chromecast 2nd gen and Chromecast Audio devices and are working on a fix. Do not factory reset your device - we will keep you all updated when the fix rolls out. If you have already factory reset your device, we will provide instructions to set your device back up as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

Chromecast Audio LED status indicators

Chromecast Audio has an LED light on the side of the device that visually explains what the device is doing. The following table shows the different LED status indicators and what the states mean.

LED status LED indicator meaning
Solid white Chromecast Audio is connected to the network and is ready to begin casting content, or is already casting content.
Pulsing white Your Chromecast Audio is disconnected and needs to be set up.
Pulsing orange Your Chromecast Audio is receiving an update and is not available for casting. It will be available for use shortly. Don't disconnect your device from power.
Solid orange There may be an error with your device. Perform a reboot on your device by unplugging it from the power source, waiting about 1 minute, and then plugging it back in. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, try a factory reset.

Here's more info on why your Chromecast Audio update may be taking longer than expected.
