To troubleshoot this issue:
  1. Make sure your Chromecast is setup properly following the directions here.
  2. Ensure your Android device and Chromecast are both connected to the same wireless network name (SSID).
  3. Ensure you have the most recent version of the Google Home app from the Google Play Store.
  4. Ensure you have the most recent version of Google Play services installed.
  5. If these steps do not fix your issue, try power cycling your wireless router, your Android device, and the Chromecast device.
