Hard reset your Chromebook

If you have problems updating your Chromebook, you might need to do a hard reset by taking the battery out, pushing a special button with a pin, or using a keyboard shortcut.

For instructions, pick your Chromebook from the list below.

Note: If you don’t see your Chromebook in the list, use the shortcut Refresh Refresh keyboard icon + Power.

Acer Chromebox, ASUS Chromebox, LG Chromebase, and Samsung Chromebox
Remove the power cable, then plug it back in.
Acer AC700 and Cr-48
Remove the battery, then put it back in.
ASUS Chromebit

Using a paperclip or similar object, press the hole shown in the picture below, then connect the power adapter.

Samsung Series 5 Chromebook

Using a paperclip or similar object, press the hole shown in the picture below, then connect the power adapter.

Using a paperclip or similar object, press the hole shown in the picture below, then connect the power adapter.

If the steps above don’t fix the problem, continue with recovery.
