You can use Google Chat:
- On your computer:
- To communicate, connect, and collaborate in one place, use Google Chat in Gmail.
- Tip: If you don’t find Chat in Gmail, you may need to turn it on in Gmail settings
- To access Chat in a separate tab or window in your browser, use Google Chat from the web.
- For a native app experience, in your Chrome browser, install the Google Chat standalone app.
- To communicate, connect, and collaborate in one place, use Google Chat in Gmail.
- On your mobile device:
- For Android or iOS, download the Chat app.

Sign in to Google Chat
Important: To use Chat, you need a Google Account. Learn how to create a Google Account.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chat app .
- If prompted, sign in.
Tips:
- Chat displays the name and profile photo from your Google Account. Learn how to change personal info in your Google Account.

Use Chat at work or school
If you have a work or school account that’s part of Google Workspace, you can use Chat to communicate in large spaces, small groups, or with another person. Learn to work efficiently in chats and spaces.
