Create an event

You can create Google Calendar events from your computer or device.

Create an event

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Calendar app Calendar.
  2. Tap Create Insert and then Event Event.
  3. Optional:
    • If you invite guests, add them to the event.
    • If you want to change which calendar you add an event to, go to the top and tap the calendar name.
    • If you want to let guests edit your event, invite others, or view the full guest list:
      • Under "Guests can,"turn on the access levels you want to give guests.
  4. Swipe up to edit event details like:
    • Title
    • Location
    • Who's invited
    • Event visibility
      Important: If you don't share your calendar, you won't find visibility settings for your event.
  5. Tap Save.

Create an event in a shared calendar

Important: To create events in a shared calendar, you must first:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Calendar app Calendar.
  2. On the bottom right, tap Create Addand thenEvent Event.
  3. Add a titleand any event details.
  4. Tap on the calendar name next to Calendar event. A list of all the calendars you can create events for appears.
  5. Tap your preferred calendar.
  6. At the top right, tap Save. The event appears with both the calendar name and the name of the person who created the event.

Tip: You can’t create events for Birthday or Holiday calendars.

Create an event by tapping an empty time

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Calendar app Calendar.
  2. In the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Day, 3 Day, or Week and then an empty time.
  3. To change the event duration, tap and drag the top or bottom circles of the event.
  4. Add an event title, invite guests, or add rooms.
  5. To find a time guests are available, swipe down or tap View schedules.
  6. To edit event details like the location, notifications, and descriptions, at the top of the event next to "Save," swipe up.
  7. Tap Save.

Tips:

  • To switch categories from “Event” to “Task,” tap Task.
  • When you switch categories in the middle of the creation process, the Calendar app retains as much of the data as possible.

Event options

Create an all-day event
  1. On your Android phone, open the Calendar app Calendar.
  2. Tap Create Add and then Event.
  3. Add a description for your event.
  4. Tap the box next to All day.
  5. Tap Save.

You'll see all-day events at the top of the page for that day.

Create a repeating event

You can create a repeating event. Learn how to create and manage repeating events.

Add video meetings

If you use Calendar for work or school, a Meet video meeting is added when you add invitees and tap Save.

To manually add a video meeting, tap Add video conferencing and then Save.

Tip: If you use Calendar for work or school, you can add third-party conferencing apps from the G Suite Marketplace. Get extra Calendar tools.

Pick a color for your event

When you're creating an event, you can choose the color that event will show as in your calendars. People won't be able to see the color you set for events unless you've given them permission to make changes on your calendar. Learn how to manage your calendar permissions.

  1. On your Android phone, open the Calendar app Calendar.
  2. Tap on an existing event.
  3. Tap edit Edit.
  4. Scroll, select a color.
  5. Tap Save.

Edit or cancel events

Edit an event
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Calendar app Calendar.
  2. Open the event you want to edit.
  3. Tap Edit Edit.
  4. Make changes to your event, then tap Save.

Tip: To move an event, drag and drop it to a new time and date on your calendar.

Delete an event
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Calendar app Calendar.
  2. Open the event you want to delete.
  3. In the top right, tap More More.
  4. Tap Delete and then Delete.
Let guests edit your event

You can let guests edit your event details. For example, they can invite others or view the full guest list.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Calendar app Calendar.
  2. Open the event you want to let guests edit.
  3. Tap Edit Edit.
  4. In the "Guests can" section, turn on the access levels you want to give guests.
  5. Tap Save.

Tip: The Android guest access levels follow any access levels you've applied on your computer. For example, if you turned on "Modify event" using your computer, that access level will be turned on in the Android app.
