When you create a family on Google, a calendar called "Family" is automatically created. Anyone who joins your family or has access to your family calendar can find it when they open Google Calendar on any device where they’re signed in.
Learn how the family calendar works
- Anyone in the family or anyone with access to your family calendar can:
- Make changes to events on the family calendar.
- Manage how the family calendar is shared.
- Edit the family calendar's name.
- On your computer, you can share the family calendar with non-family members.
- If someone leaves a family group, they lose access to the family calendar.
- If a family manager deletes the family group, the family calendar and related events must be deleted manually.
- The calendar owner gets an email notification when a user under the age of 13:
- Shares the family calendar
- Makes the family calendar public
- Changes member permissions
Create an event on the family calendar
- Open the Google Calendar app

- In the bottom right, tap Create
Event.
- To pick the calendar you want to add the event to, tap Events.
- Tap the name of your family calendar.
- Add a title and details for the event.
- In the top right, tap Save.
Change your family calendar notification settings
By default, you'll get the same notifications for upcoming events as you do for your primary calendar. However, you won't get notifications when a family member creates, edits, or deletes an event.
To change your notification settings for upcoming events:
- Open the Google Calendar app

- In the top left, tap Menu
Settings

- Tap the name of your family calendar.
- Tap your current notifications to remove or change them.
Delete the family calendar
If you don't need a calendar anymore, you can permanently delete or unsubscribe from a calendar. You must delete or unsubscribe from your computer.
