Duplicate listing, how to remove the incorrect one which I can't find
Incorrect listing is:
I just want to delete the incorrect one so that it doesn't appear when typing on our name in google but it doesn't seem to be linked to either of my google accounts, so I have no idea what has happened here.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction.
Thanks,

Sally

Hi...
It looks like these are two separate businesses with the same name (which is very common.) Your business is in the UK and the other business is in France.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Thank you for responding. Yes that is correct, they are the same business owned by me both addresses are mine, one for the french company and one for the Uk company, all details from both listings point to the same website and phone number.
I only ever set up the French address and google business page as this is where we deliver the product, I don't want the Uk one to appear in google every time someone types in our business name even though all of our clients are british, all of our google SEO, ads etc are tied to the French listing.
What I am struggling to work out is where the Uk one has come from and what account it is linked too as it is not appearing linked to any of my accounts so I can't remove it.
It gives me the option to Claim this business, not sure if this is an option and I can then delete?
It is mainly because suddenly this page is appearing instead of the correct business page and I don't want this to happen moving forward as it looks very unprofessional.
I hope that this makes sense!
Thanks,
Sally

Thanks for clarifying. If you live in the UK and set up the business in the UK, chances are Google created that listing because of information it found online. There are a few ways you can handle it. First try going to Google Maps and click on the UK business and suggest an edit to remove the listing and mark it as duplicate.
You can find out more about how to handle duplicate listings on this help document:
You can contact GMB support if you have any other questions: https://support.google.com/business/gethelp
One thing I noticed is it looks like both listings are run out of homes and not storefronts. Is that correct? If so, you are considered a Service Area Business and you are not allowed to show your address in your GMB listing, so once you get this issue resolved you will need to go in and delete your address from your French listing and select service areas.
Also, if your official business name is The Snow Institute, you cannot add any additional words to your business name, like "Morzine, Les Gets & Avoriaz" so you will need to remove those words from your business name as well because right now you are violating GMBs Terms of Service.
Please let me know if you're not able to get the UK listing removed by using the Suggest an edit or speaking to GMB support and I have some other ideas that you could try.
Hope that helps!

I've been thinking about your situation and have a few more questions. First, where are you personally located? Are you, as the business owner, located in the UK or France? Second, where is/was your business officially registered at -- the UK or France? For instance, in the US businesses typically have to get a business license from either the city they operate in or register their business with the Secretary of State in the state that they operate their business in. I'm assuming that France and the UK have similar type guidelines/rules for businesses to operate. So where did you register your business -- in what country?
And the UK address: is that your home address? And whose address is the address in France?
Please provide me with those answers so I can better assist with helping you.
Thanks.

Thank you for both of your responses, I will try to answer as best as possible below.
I am personally located in both countries, during the summer in the Uk (we don't deliver the product in the summer or in the Uk) I am then located in the winter in France where we deliver the product sold on the website.
People look at the website all year round but it only sells products that are delivered in France during winter months, 90% of our clients are from the Uk.
We have got a company in both countries, Uk is booking agent for French company so they are linked together. Each registered in each country, so Uk Ltd Company and French Syndicate. Both The Snow Institute.
Both addresses are our home addresses owned by us, both have offices in them for the business and available for clients to come too if they want too but not shop fronts as most of the selling is done online.
Like I have said above, we don't need the Uk address to appear anywhere as the location or on google business page as where the product is delivered is in France, same town as our address, along with the 2 towns beside this town and this is what I set up the google business listing too reflect.
Noted re the name of the google business page, I will get this changed asap. Also will remove the Uk listing as suggested.
Re changing to Service Area Business how do we then appear on the Google Maps/business when people search for it? Or would this then remove us from there as address would be removed? This address is part of our French company so is legal. I am just asking as all of our competitors appear there too and a lot of them don't have offices in resort either or even addresses that belong to them so just trying to understand this part.
Let me know if you need any other information and thank you soo much, this can sometimes be a big minefield which changes daily so having your help is amazing, thank you!

If you don't have a physical storefront in France (which you don't because you run your business out of your home), you must delete your address as per Google's Guidelines for Representing your business online. You'll need to go to the "Info" section of your GMB listing, click on the pencil icon next to your address and delete your address. Google will ask you if you to select service areas. You will then be able to select up to 20 service areas.
You will still appear in Google local search results, but you won't appear on Google Maps because Google doesn't want home-based businesses like yours on Google Maps. (It doesn't matter that your home address is part of your French company's info -- including it on your GMB profile violates Google's rules and will likely get your listing suspended if you keep your address on your profile.)
If you find competitors that are violating the rules -- like they have their address listed but they run their business out of their home -- you can suggest edits on Google Maps and try and get their listing removed by clicking Suggest an edit > Close or Remove Listing > Not open to the public. If that doesn't work, you can fill out a Redressal
Form.
Here are the guidelines for seasonal businesses like yours -- ones that are open only part of the year. (Since you are only in France half of the year, you are considered a seasonal business.):
- During the season your business is open, set your regular hours of operation. You can set special hours for holidays, temporary closures, or other events.
- You can also indicate that your business is open only for a specific seasonal period in your business description.
- During off-season, you need to mark your business as temporarily closed.
- Set your regular business hours when your business reopens.

If you are having an issue with Google My Business, please
start a new thread: https://support.google.com/business/thread/new?hl=en
and tell us in detail what issue(s) you are having and provide us with the
following information:
·
Your Business Name
·
Address
·
Website URL
·
A screenshot of the “Info” section
of your GMB dashboard
(It is very difficult for those of us volunteering on this
forum to answer multiple questions on a single thread, so we need each of you
to start your own thread with your own specific question with your specific
business details.)
Thanks!

Thank you for your detailed response, that makes total sense just a pity that we have to remove the address as it is relevant to the business and location as to where we offer our product but there you go! I don't want to loose our listing so will get this sorted ASAP.
Our business is open all year round as we take phone calls and emails bookings during the summer too, so we are not "closed" and I don't want to put our business as closed as we are open to all client contact and bookings all year round, not just in the winter months. Hence our opening hours are correct as we are effectively open to all contact.

Is this still correct to keep opening hours as they are?
If I do edit other listings that are violating the rules, will this connect back to me? Not particularly happy if they know it is me doing it!
Many thanks for all of your help!

I have now done all the changes as requested, so fingers crossed it is all correct now once approved by google.
I also deleted the short name as this also said business name + town names, how can I add a new one in for just the business name. It is the one that appeared in "Info" with the @ before it?
Not sure if I had to delete this or not!
Thanks,
Sally

Google just got rid of the short names feature, so there's (unfortunately) no way to create another one.
