Appeal Business Profile content & profile restrictions

To maintain high quality information on Google, we may moderate Business Profiles and Business Profile content that violate our guidelines. You can use the Google Business Profile appeals tool to:

  • Appeal certain types of profile restrictions and content moderation decisions, including content rejections
  • Check the status of your appeals

Before you begin

If you haven’t verified your Business Profile, content related to your Business Profile may not appear across Google. Check your profile’s verification status before you submit an appeal.

For suspended or disabled profiles

Prepare your evidence

Important: Once you open the evidence form, you must submit it within 60 minutes or it won’t be attached to your appeal.

You may be prompted to add optional evidence to a linked form to support your appeal. Evidence that can help strengthen your appeal includes:

  • Official business registration
  • A business license
  • Tax certificates
  • Utility bills (electricity, phone, cable, internet etc) for the business.

Tip: For any documents you submit as evidence, check that the business name and address match the profile you want to make an appeal for.

Submit your appeal

  1. Open the Google Business Profile appeals tool.
  2. Make sure you're signed in to the Google Account related to your Business Profile.
  3. Select the Business Profile that you want to reinstate.
  4. The Google Business Profile appeals tool shows:
    • The restricted profile
    • The reason for the moderation action
    • A link to the violated policy
  5. At the bottom right, select Submit Appeal.
  6. You may be prompted to add optional evidence to support your appeal.
    • To add evidence, attach files that clearly support your appeal and select Submit.
  7. Google will review your appeal and send you an email with a decision.

For rejected business information edits

Important: If your Google Account or Business Profile is restricted, it must be reinstated before you can appeal any content decisions. Learn how to fix suspended Business Profiles.

You can use the appeals tool to submit an appeal for rejected edits to these Business Profile details:

  • Business name
  • Address
  • Pin location
  • Business category
  • Phone number
  • Website
  • Update, offer, and event posts

Submit your appeal

  1. Open the Google Business Profile appeals tool.
  2. Make sure you're signed in to the Google Account related to your Business Profile.
  3. Select the Business Profile for the appeal that you want to submit.
  4. The Google Business Profile appeals tool will show:
    • A list of rejected contributions
    • The reason for the moderation action
    • A link to the violated policy
  5. Select the decision that you want to appeal.
  6. At the bottom right, select Submit appeal.
  7. (Optional) To add evidence, attach files and select Submit.

Google will review your appeal and send you an email with a decision.

Tip: In the Google Business Profile appeals tool, you may get a message that states there's no moderated content or restricted access to appeal. If you believe that you have additional restricted content to appeal, contact us. Our team can confirm whether you’re eligible for any new appeals.

For review removal requests
If you report a customer review but the decision says that it doesn’t violate Google Policies, you can submit a one-time appeal. Learn how to submit a one-time appeal of a review.
For other content restrictions

Important: If your Google Account or Business Profile is suspended, it must be reinstated before you can appeal any content decisions. Learn how to fix suspended Business Profiles.

To submit an appeal for any other type of rejected content, contact us.

  1. Select the most related issue.
  2. Fill out the form.
  3. Click Submit.

Tip: If our initial reply doesn't fix your issue, please respond to the email and our support team will help process your appeal.

Appeal more than 10 Business Profiles

To submit appeals for more than 10 profiles:

  1. On the Google Business Profile appeals tool, select the Business Profile you want to appeal.
    • Make sure you’re signed in to the Google Account related to your Business Profile.
  2. After you submit the appeal, you have the option to include evidence.
    • You’ll be asked if the appeal is for more than 10 profiles, click Yes.
  3. Attach a spreadsheet that includes the evidence and Business Profile ID for each profile. Learn more about the types of evidence.
  4. Click Submit.

Tips:

  • In the Google Business Profiles appeals tool, the status will only change for the profile you selected. The status of the other profiles you appealed won’t be updated.
  • You’ll receive one email notification with an appeal decision for the profile you selected.

Check the status of an appeal in the appeals tool

  1. Make sure you’re signed in to the Google Account related to your Business Profile.
  2. Open the Google Business Profile appeals tool.
  3. Select the Business Profile for the appeal that you submitted.
  4. On the right, you’ll find the status of the appeal:
    • Submitted
    • Approved
    • Not Approved
    • Can't be appealed
    • Eligible for appeal
