Important: You can't update hotel attributes through the spreadsheet upload. To update hotel attributes, use the API or the dashboard. Learn more about the Business Profile API.
Your Business Profile might take a while to get verified because of errors or quality guideline violations. When you upload a data file to your Business Profile, you might encounter errors that cause your location to be disapproved. Check the list below for common issues that delay the verification process.
You can manage an individual profile on Search and Maps. To manage multiple profiles in bulk at once, you can use Business Profile Manager.

Email addresses that don't contain the official domain name of the business will require additional steps toward verification and may take longer to process.
Learn about business info guidelines
Business name
- Capitalise appropriately. Make sure that your business name reflects the same capitalisation as it does in real life.
- Only use your business name. Do not include any additional information about the business, such as its speciality or shop code.
Website and phone
- Use a local phone number instead of a call centre number whenever possible.
- Use direct phone numbers and URLs to the business listed, rather than redirects.
Ineligible business models
- Only businesses that make in-person contact with customers qualify for Business Profile Manager verification.
- Rental properties or properties for sale, like holiday homes or vacant flats, aren't eligible to add business information to the Business Profile Manager. You should create a location for the central office that processes the rentals or sales, rather than the individual rental or for sale properties of an empty flat.
- Businesses that hold temporary events or rent out other facilities for certain periods of time may not list these facilities as their own location.
- Service Area Businesses (SABs) like plumbers may bulk verify only if their locations are also customer-facing during regular hours. These businesses won’t be able to set service areas in the bulk management tool. SABs without customer-facing locations should use the code verification system to verify their locations individually. Learn how to add service areas to your location.
Resolve formatting and upload errors
Common formatting issues
- Double-check your postcodes to make sure that they’re correct. Some spreadsheet software can remove leading zeros.
- All locations must include telephone numbers that are formatted correctly. The 'Locations' tool requires telephone numbers to be in specific formats. Check the error message under details to find the correct phone format needed for your locations.
- Make sure that your country code is correct. Learn how to format your country code.
Common upload errors
- Make sure that your spreadsheet has all the required information. The spreadsheet software identifies fields with missing info.
- Add at least 10 locations in your feed. If you have fewer than 10 locations, you can add and verify them individually with the Business Profile Manager. Learn how to add or claim your Business on Google.
- Make sure that you’ve added all of the locations that you manage before you upload your spreadsheet.
- If you get an error 'You’ve exceeded the limit for the amount of locations that you can upload to your Business Profile in a single day', fill in this form. Try again later. Make sure that you include this error in the 'Describe your issue' field. The support team will help load your locations into your account and continue the bulk verification process.
