Advanced book settings
You should review all the advanced settings to make sure your book’s setting is configured correctly on both Google Play Books and Google Books. The following are the 3 most important settings to check:
DRM Enabled/Apply DRM encryption? | Check this box/select Yes if you want to apply Digital Rights Management (DRM) to your book. |
---|---|
Preview type/Preview limit | The percentage of the book that can be previewed. Options start at 20% and increase in increments of 10%. |
Copy & paste percentage/limit |
The percentage of the book which can be copied and pasted elsewhere by buyers. |
Distribution settings/Google Play Books
Distribution settings include additional options for selling your book on Google Play.
Setting |
Description |
---|---|
Create flowable text? |
Google has converted selected books into .epub format. Check this box/select No if Google converted your book but you don't want to use Google's .epub version. (You can provide your own .epub file regardless of this setting). |
Show PDF? |
Check this box/select Yes if you wish to sell the book in .pdf format. |
Show photos in Google Play Books? |
Check this box if you have the rights to include images in the eBook. If a book has a large number of images, Google can sell it only if this box is checked or if you provide an .epub file. |
Reading order |
Change this setting if the pages of this book appear in reverse order. This setting applies only to non-.epub files. |
N/A |
Check this box if the book is intended for mature audiences only. (If you use a new Partner Center, this setting is available under “About the book”). |
Insert a blank page after the cover? |
Check this box/select Yes if you have not added a blank page between the cover and the first content page in this .pdf or fixed layout file. We will then insert one for you to preserve the original left-to-right page layout. |
Google Search preview settings/Google Books search
The books you submit can be previewed on Google Books, similar to the way a visitor to a physical bookstore can browse through books on the shelves. If you sell the book on your website, you can add a link to the purchase page for readers who want the entire book.
