Set up multiple users for your speaker or smart display

You can link up to 6 people’s voices with Voice Match to a single speaker or smart display. After you link your voice, you can use voice commands to listen to personalised media.

Link your voice

To link your voice with Voice Match, you must link one Google Account. If you have multiple Google Accounts, you can choose which account that you want to use.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. Tap Menu Menu.
  3. At the top-right of the Home screen, tap Devices Devices. Tap the device that you want to link to your voice.
  4. Tap Link your account and then Continue.
  5. Follow the steps.

Understand how your voice works with other settings

Voice Match & personal results
  • If no one links their voice with Voice Match to the speaker or smart display and the person who set up the device allows personal results, anyone can access those personal results.
  • After you link your voice with Voice Match, the Google Assistant will not respond with your personal results to a voice it doesn’t recognise as yours.
  • A voice that sounds like yours might be able to get these results, too. If you're not comfortable with this, stop allowing personalised results.
Voice Match & media services
  • If you link your voice with Voice Match and choose specific music and video services, the Google Assistant can provide personalised music and video suggestions.
  • When other people use the speaker or smart display that is linked to your voice, your media history and recommendations from these services might change.
  • To stop others from using your media services, ask them to link their own music and video services.
