Make Android TV more accessible

You can use the built-in screen reader, closed captions, and your phone to make your Android TV experience more accessible.

Use the screen reader

When you use a screen reader, you can hear what's happening on your TV or monitor.

Important: You need sighted assistance to turn on the screen reader.

Turn on the screen reader

  1. On your Android TV, go to the device Settings Settings.
  2. Under "Preferences," select Accessibility Accessibility and then TalkBack and then Enable.

Change the volume & pitch

  1. On your Android TV, go to the device Settings Settings.

  2. Under "Preferences," select Accessibility Accessibility and then TalkBack and then Configuration.
  3. Choose an option.

Use closed captions

  1. On your Android TV, go to the device Settings Settings.
  2. Under "Preferences," select Accessibility Accessibility and then Captions.
  3. Select the source.
  4. Choose your options.
