If you’ve been using the Android Auto app on your phone screen, you’ll need to switch to Google Assistant’s driving mode, a new integrated driving experience. If your car is compatible with Android Auto, you can still connect directly to your car’s display.  Learn about other ways Google is ready to make your drive better.

Talk to Google

To control Android Auto in compatible cars, you can talk to Google. Simply follow these steps: 

Use Android Auto on your phone screen

  1. Say "OK Google" or select the microphone Microphone .
  2. Wait until you hear the beep. 
  3. Say what you'd like to do.

Use Android Auto on your car display

  1. Choose one of three ways to start: Say "Hey Google", press and hold the voice command button on your steering wheel, or select the microphone Microphone.
  2. Wait until you hear the beep. 
  3. Say what you'd like to do.
