Listen to music

You can listen to music through your phone's or car's speakers with Android Auto. You can find your compatible music, audiobook, and podcast apps when you select the audio button  on your display. 

During setup, you’ll see all of your compatible media apps in Android Auto.  Select the media app you’d like to listen to. To switch between compatible media apps, select the dropdown . You can also download more compatible apps that you don't have yet.

Make sure you're signed into that app on your phone. For more information or to troubleshoot these apps, visit the app’s website or contact the developer directly

Listen to Google Play Music with voice commands
  1. Say "OK Google" or select the microphone  .
  2. Say “Play music.”  

The last song you were listening to will resume. To hear a specific song or artist, just say "Play" and then the song or artist you want to hear. Some more examples of things you can say are:

  • "Play Let it Be"
  • "Play Frank Sinatra"
  • "Play country music"
  • "Play my 'Driving at night' playlist"
Listen to Google Play Music with the display
  1. On your display, select the music and audio  button.
  2. Once you're in Google Play Music, select Menu 
  3. Choose from the following:
    • Listen now (recommendations).
    • Recent playlists.
    • Instant mixes (mixes based on your favorite artists & songs).
Listen to other compatible apps with voice commands
  1. Say "OK Google" or select the microphone  .
  2. Say “Play music.”  

Some examples of things you can say are:

  • "Play my 'Dance!' playlist on Spotify."
  • "Play Call Me Maybe on Amazon Music."
  • "Play house music on Pandora."
  • "Play Harry Potter on Audible."
  • "Play Adele Radio on iHeartRadio."
  • "Play Planet Money on NPR One."
