About linking

You can create and manage links between Analytics 360 properties and Display & Video 360 advertisers from the Analytics 360 Admin section.

When you create the links, you can enable the following options:

  • Export Remarketing Lists. Enrich your current remarketing activities with your first party Analytics 360 website data by exporting audiences to Display & Video 360. There, these audiences can also be used for exclusions in combination with other audiences. Additionally, you can control whether data collected from end users for any property may be used for ads personalization via the advanced setting to allow for ads personalization.
  • Import DV360 Campaign Data. Import campaign data (excluding cost data) from Display & Video 360 to Analytics.
  • Import DV360 Cost Data. Import cost data from the Display & Video 360 advertiser. The cost data is the same as Revenue in Display & Video 360.

Note: If you choose to import cost data, only aggregate cost will be shared with Analytics; no breakdown of this aggregate cost will be available in your Analytics account. This aggregate cost data appears in Analytics 360 as the DV360 Cost metric.

When you link an Analytics 360 property and a Display & Video 360 advertiser:

  • Auto-tagging of your destination URLs is automatically implemented.
  • Analytics goals are automatically exported to the Display & Video 360 advertiser for use in Custom Bidding.

You can link multiple Display & Video 360 advertisers to a single Analytics 360 property. You can also link a single Display & Video 360 advertiser to multiple Analytics 360 properties. You need to repeat the linking process for each separate Analytics 360 property.

Each link between a Display & Video 360 advertiser and an Analytics 360 property is listed as a separate entity, and you can manage each link separately.

Reminder: Linking accounts enables authorized Analytics and Display & Video 360 users to see data from both products.

Prerequisites

  1. Before you can link Analytics 360 properties and Display & Video 360 advertisers, you need to enable Advertising Reporting Features.
  2. You also need the following permissions to create, edit, or delete links.

Create

To create links yourself, you need the following permissions in Analytics 360 and Display & Video 360:

  • Analytics 360: Editor role at the account or property level for the property you want to link
  • Display & Video 360: Admin or standard permissions for the partner account that contains the advertiser you want to link

If you only have the Editor role on your Analytics 360 property (and not the proper Display Video 360 permission), you can send an automated link-approval request to an Admin for the advertiser you want to link.

Edit

To edit advanced settings (export Remarketing Audiences, import Display & Video 360 campaign and cost data), the same user/email address needs the following permissions:

  • Analytics 360: Editor role at the account or property level for the property you want to link
  • Display & Video 360 : Admin or standard permissions for the partner account that contains the advertiser you want to link

To edit a link name, and which Analytics 360 views are linked, you need only the following permission:

  • Analytics 360: Editor role for account or property where the link is established

Delete

To delete links, you need only the following permission:

  • Analytics 360: Editor role for account or property where the link is established

If you have the proper permission for both products, you can complete the link creation yourself. To create links between Analytics 360 properties and Display & Video 360 advertisers:

  1. Sign in to your Analytics 360 account.
  2. Click Admin, and navigate to the account and property you want to link.
  3. In the Property column, under Product linking, click Google Marketing Platform > Display & Video 360 Linking.
  4. Click + New DV360 Link.
  5. Under Display & Video 360 advertisers,  select Linkable advertiser(s). You'll see a list of advertisers that have not yet been linked, and for which you have the required Display & Video 360 permission.
Note: If you don't see any advertisers, you can use Linking option 2 (below) to send a linking request to a Display & Video 360 Admin.
  6. Select each advertiser you want to link to the current Analytics 360 property, then click Continue.
  7. Under Link title, enter the name you want to use for the link. We recommend using an informative name, such as Analytics360 DV360 Integration [PartnerID] [AdvertiserID]

Keep in mind that if you link more than one advertiser, then Analytics 360 creates multiple links with the same Link title, but you have the option to later edit the name for each link.
  8. Under Linked view(s), select one or more Analytics 360 reporting views. By default, no views are selected.

Auto-tagging is automatically enabled when you save the link group so that Analytics 360 can associate sessions with Display & Video 360 campaigns. (If you need to use custom UTM values, you can turn on the auto-tagging override feature.)
  9. Optionally, enable Advanced settings by checking the boxes next to each individual import or export setting.
    • Export Remarketing Lists: Export Analytics remarketing lists to Display & Video 360.
    • Import DV360 Campaign Data: Import campaign data (excluding cost data) from Display & Video 360 to Analytics.
    • Import DV360 Cost Data: Import cost data from the Display & Video 360 advertiser to Analytics. Analytics imports only aggregate cost data, which is known as revenue in Display & Video 360.
  10. Click Create link(s).

Linking option 2: You only have the required Analytics 360 permission

If you don't have the required Display & Video 360 permission, you can send a linking request to a Display & Video 360 Admin, who can either approve or reject your request. To send a linking request:

  1. Sign in to your Analytics 360 account.
  2. Click Admin, and navigate to the account and property you want to link.
  3. In the Property column, under Product linking, click Google Marketing Platform > Display & Video 360 Linking.
  4. Click + New DV360 Link.
  5. Under Display & Video 360 advertisers, select Other advertisers.
  6. Enter the Display & Video 360 advertiser ID and the email address of the Display & Video 360 partner administrator.
    • You can only enter one advertiser ID per row. Click Add to create another row.
    • You can submit multiple email addresses per row, separated by commas. Note: Make sure you've entered the email addresses correctly because the system isn't able to notify you of invalid email addresses.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. In Link configuration, select the types of data that will flow between Analytics and Display & Video 360 as a result of the link:
    • Export Remarketing Lists: Export Analytics remarketing lists to Display & Video 360.
    • Import DV360 Campaign Data: Import campaign data (excluding cost data) from Display & Video 360 to Analytics.
    • Import DV360 Cost Data: Import cost data from the Display & Video 360 advertiser to Analytics. Analytics imports only aggregate cost data, which is known as revenue in Display & Video 360.
    These settings will:
    • Apply to all link requests if more than one advertiser is specified above.
    • Be included in the approval request that is sent to the Display & Video 360 administrator. The Display & Video 360 administrator won't be able to change these settings, and once the Display & Video 360 administrator approves the link, these settings can't be changed. To change them, you will have to delete the link and submit a new link request.
  9. Click Send Link Request.

Note: By sending this account linking request, you're agreeing to share your email and/or name with the administrator of the Display & Video 360 account.

Analytics sends an email request to the Display & Video 360 partner administrator that you identified in Step 6.

Analytics also generates a shareable link that you can send to the Display & Video 360 partner administrator if you need to remind that person to approve the link request or want to contact them directly.

The Display & Video 360 partner administrator needs to:
    • Click Manage requests in the email request.
    • Click the pending request in the table that opens.
    • Select Approve Link.
    • Click Submit.
  10. Track the progress of your request per the instructions below under Pending requests and Approved requests.

Pending requests

All linking requests will be added to a new Pending Requests table in Admin > Property > Google Marketing Platform > Display & Video 360 Linking. Use the Pending Requests table to:

  • Delete Request: This will withdraw the link request. Display & Video 360 administrators may have received the linking request email, but if they click on the link within the email, they won't see anything to review.
  • Resend: This will send another email to the Display & Video 360 administrator.
  • Copy Link: This will give the request URL that the Display & Video 360 administrator can use to approve or reject the request. You can send this directly to your Display & Video 360 counterpart.

Your linking request will be automatically deleted if it is:

  • Pending Approval for 30 days.
  • Rejected for 30 days.
  • Approved with no further action within 60 days.

Approved requests

If the Display & Video 360 administrator approves your request, you'll receive an email. Complete the following steps to finalize the link.

  1. In the Pending Requests table, click the Complete Link button.
  2. Under Link title, enter the name you want to use for the link.
  3. Under Linked view(s), select the Analytics 360 reporting views you want to link.
  4. Click Create Link

Once you've completed these steps, the link will be removed from the Pending Requests table and moved to the Linked accounts table.

Export remarketing lists

Enrich your current remarketing activities by exporting your first party Analytics 360 audiences to Display & Video 360. There, these audiences can also be used for exclusions in combination with other audiences. Note that you control whether data collected from end users for any property may be used for ads personalization via the advanced ads-personalization setting.
