[UA] Delete a property

Important: Your property, and all the reporting views in the property, will be permanently deleted 35 days after being moved to the Trash Can. Once deleted, the property is gone, and we are not able to retrieve any historical data or reinstate your reports.

You must have the Editor role to move a property to the Trash Can. Moving a property to the Trash Can also moves all component views to the Trash Can. To move a property to the Trash Can:

  1. Sign in to Google Analytics..
  2. Click Admin, and navigate to the property you want to delete.
  3. In the PROPERTY column, click Property Settings.
  4. Click Move to Trash Can.
  5. On the confirmation screen, click Move property to Trash Can.

When you can't delete a property

You cannot delete a Google Analytics 4 property if it is linked to a Universal Analytics property. Learn more here.

If you try to delete a linked Google Analytics 4 property, you get the following error message:
"This property is part of a link between a Universal Analytics property and a Google Analytics 4 prop".

To fix this, do the following steps:

  1. Access your Google Analytics account.

  2. Click Admin in the bottom left of the page, Then, select this Universal property.

  1. Click GA4 Setup assistant and confirm the GA4 property ID linked.

  1. Click DIsconnect; a pop-up  appears .

  1. Click Continue, then click Property settings.

  1. Click “move to trash”

  2. Click Delete property.

You should now be able to delete the property.
