Change your campaign type

This article covers how to switch from one campaign type to another.

How it works

Choose the AdWords experience you're using. Learn more

Changing campaign types can affect your campaign's performance and ad serving, or hide and deactivate certain features. In the new AdWords experience, we've disabled the option to change between campaign types to help you avoid these issues.

If you want to adjust where your ads can appear, create a new campaign using a different campaign type, or for Search Network, Video, and Shopping campaigns, change your campaign’s "Networks" settings.

Keep in mind

For Search Network, Display Network, and Video campaigns, you can switch your campaign goal (e.g., changing your goal from "Sales" to "Website traffic"), but we don't recommend doing so, as this can hide some features and reports that you're currently using.

How to change your campaign's networks settings

  1. Sign in to your AdWords account.
  2. Click Settings in the page menu.
  3. Click the name of the campaign you'd like to edit.
  4. Click to expand the Networks section.
  5. Choose your settings, then click Save.

Tip

Want to use a feature that isn't available with your campaign's current type? Consider creating a new campaign with the appropriate type and then importing your existing ad groups into that new campaign with AdWords Editor. Learn more about using AdWords Editor.
