Set automatic campaign start and end dates

When you create a new Google Ads campaign, your start date is set to "today" unless you specify otherwise. If you leave the start date as "today," your campaign will start as soon as your first ads are approved. But if you create a campaign and don't want it to start right away, or know the specific date when you want your campaign to end, you can set automatic campaign start and end dates.

This article explains how to set automatic campaign start and end dates.

How to edit a start date

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account.
  2. In the page menu on the left, click Campaigns.
  3. Click the campaign you want to edit.
  4. In the page menu on the left, click Settings.
  5. Click to expand the "Start and end dates" section.
    • Note: If you’re resuming setup of a campaign, click Show more settings to reveal this section.
  6. Click to expand the "Start date" drop-down, then select a start date.
  7. Click Save.

Once you set a start date, you can edit that date at any time until your campaign begins. After the start date has passed, it's no longer possible to edit that date. For example, if your start date is February 1, you won't be able to edit your start date on February 2. You can, however, still pause, resume, or remove your campaign.

How to set an end date

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account.
  2. In the page menu on the left, click Campaigns.
  3. Select the campaign you want to edit.
  4. In the page menu on the left, click Settings.
  5. Click to expand the "Start and end dates" section.
    • Note: If you’re resuming setup of a campaign, click Show more settings to reveal this section.
  6. Click to expand the "End date" drop-down, then select an end date.
  7. Click Save.

When you select an end date, your campaign will end on that date at 11:59 p.m. (or 23:59) in the time zone that you have chosen for your account.

Set an end date for multiple campaigns at the same time

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account.
  2. In the page menu on the left, click Settings.
  3. Check the box next to the campaigns that you want to change.
  4. Click Edit, then select "Change end date".
  5. Click to expand the "Select a date" drop-down, then select an end date.
  6. Click Apply.
