Fix a funds transfer issue

Funds transfer is a way to add money to your AdWords account by transferring money to Google. See the instructions below on how to set up and make a funds transfer, what to expect, and what you can do if your transfer is taking too long.

Funds transfer

Setup

If you'd like to set up or make a payment using funds transfer, follow these steps:

To process your payment, you'll need to include your unique reference number on your bank's transfer form. A reference number is what we use to connect your funds transfer payment to your AdWords account. Think of it as a thumbprint that helps us identify your payment.

If the form's Notes field or Reference number field doesn't have enough room for the entire number, enter the number in the Name field before, or instead of, your name. (Remember that the reference number is found on the transfer information form that you generated in your AdWords account. It's different from your AdWords Customer ID.) You'll need to generate a new reference number for each payment you make -- we can't process your payment if you re-use reference numbers.

  1. Sign in to your AdWords account at http://adwords.google.com.
  2. Click the gear icon and choose Billing.
  3. Click the Make a payment button. Note: If you don't see funds transfer as an option, click the add a new payment method link, then select Funds transfer.
  4. Click Continue to make a payment.
  5. Enter the amount of money you'd like to transfer into your AdWords account. Keep in mind that there might be a minimum amount for your location and currency. Click Continue to review.
  6. After making sure that the payment information is correct, click the Confirm payment button to generate a transfer information form. This form provides all the information you need to make a funds transfer, including a unique reference number if it's needed for your location.
  7. Print the form or write down the information provided.
  8. Follow the instructions on your form to initiate a funds transfer. This process varies from bank to bank, so ask your bank for its specific instructions.
What to expect

Once we receive your funds transfer, we'll send you an email. You ads will typically start running then if they had stopped or if this is your first payment. If you're refreshing your balance, your ads will continue running.

Processing time: Two to five business days, depending on your location. That's because a funds transfer depends on a few factors, including local bank processes.

Tips

  • A reference number isn't the same as your customer identification number.
  • You can generate up to five reference numbers without sending a payment. After that, you'll need to use one of the reference numbers you already have to generate a new one.
  • Make sure not to re-use a reference number. We won't be able to process your payment.
  • Contact your bank before making a funds transfer. Learn what their process is and whether they charge any fees (Google can't reimburse your bank's fees.)
  • Always include a reference number with your transfer -- it's like a thumbprint we use to identify your payment and match it to your account.
  • If your bank's transfer form doesn't include a space to write a reference number, enter the number in front of the field where you write your name, or instead of your name.
  • Google might not be mentioned in the name of the bank to which you send your payment. We’ve partnered with Arvato Finance Services (AFS) to process your payment, so you might see this listed as the account holder.
  • If your account is on manual payments, your ads will stop running when your payments are used up. Check your balance regularly. We'll send you emails when your balance starts getting low and again if it reaches zero.
Delays

If you're worried that your funds transfer is taking too long, there are a couple things you can do to check that your payment is on its way:

  • Check that your funds have been withdrawn from your bank account. If they haven't, contact your bank.
  • Check with your bank that the funds were transferred to the correct account. The account number should be the same as the one listed in our payment instructions (generated when you made a funds transfer payment in your AdWords account).

If it's been two weeks since you initiated the transfer and you still don't see your payment, you can contact us. You'll need to include a valid proof of payment with this contact form (by clicking the "Choose File" button). Click the link below to see more about a valid proof of payment.

How to include a valid proof of payment

A valid proof of payment follows these guidelines:

  • It can be a scanned copy of your receipt or a screenshot of your bank's online statement.
  • It must be in an uneditable format, such as .jpg, .gif, or .png.
  • It must include the following information:
    • The date the transfer was made. If possible, show all transactions for five days before and after the payment.
    • The amount and currency of the payment.
    • The beneficiary of the funds (that's Google AdWords).
    • The name of the remitting bank.
  • For your safety, please black-out any sensitive information on your bank or credit card statement, particularly your entire bank account number or the middle eight digits of your credit card number.
Forgot to include reference number with a payment

It happens -- so don't worry. Here's how you can help us match your payment if you forgot to include a reference number:

  1. Check that the transfer amount has been withdrawn from your bank account. If it hasn't, contact your bank.
  2. Confirm with your bank that your money was transferred to the correct account. The account number should be exactly the same as the one listed in the original payment instructions -- the printable form you generated when you made a funds transfer, which includes the reference number.
  3. Contact us using this form. Be sure to provide a non-editable proof of payment.

Processing time: We can look into your payment once we've received it. If you notice that you forgot to include a reference number, please wait 10 days before contacting support. It can take up to 30 days to process a funds transfer without a reference number. Once we identify your payment, we'll match it to your account and get in contact with you. If you'd like your ads to run while you wait for this to happen, you might be able to make a payment using a credit card.

Connection problems and payments

More on interrupted connections

Here's what you can expect, based on the type of connection interruption you encounter:

  • Temporary interruption: GlobalCollect will receive a payment notice from your bank but the connection to Google might be interrupted. You won't receive an error message, but your payment will be applied to your AdWords account after it's been processed. This can take as long as five days.
  • Permanent interruption: You'll receive an error message about an unsuccessful payment. If you want, you can make a non-real time bank transfer to GlobalCollect, which can take five to 10 business days before being credited to your account.

Boleto bancário

With boleto bancário, you can make a make a manual payment for your AdWords costs.

Requirements

To use this payment method, you'll need an AdWords account with a business address in Brazil, with the Brazilian Real (BRL) selected as your account’s currency.

Setup

If you'd like to make a payment to your AdWords account using boleto bancário, follow these steps below after creating your account.

  1. Sign in to your AdWords account at http://adwords.google.com.
  2. Click the gear icon and choose Billing.
  3. Click the Make a payment button. The minimum payment amount is 40 BRL.
  4. Select Boleto bancário. If you don’t see it as an option, click the Add a new payment method link to see it.
  5. Select Boleto. Then, in the “Specify your payment amount” section, enter how much you’d like to make a payment for.
  6. Click the Create Boleto button. A boleto will be generated, which you can print or email.
What to expect

You can pay the boleto on the day it was generated, or schedule the payment for a more convenient date, keeping in mind the eight-day expiration period. If you miss this period, you can generate a new boleto and discard the old one.

Once you've submitted your boleto at your bank or your bank's online boleto payment page, your payment should be processed within about three business days. If you're making your first payment or your account is out of funds, your ads will typically start running at this point. Continue to make payments as needed in the future. You can issue and pay boletos in any amount over R$40.00.

Invoices and receipts

  • Invoices: You'll receive monthly invoices reflecting the charges accrued in your account each calendar month. Because you're only charged for the clicks that occurred on your ads in a given month, the amount in your invoice may be smaller than the amount you paid via boleto. Any remaining funds in your account can be used in ensuing months.
  • Receipts: Your receipt is issued on the last day of the month and sent to the AdWords account contact e-mail between the 5th and 10th business day of the following month.

You'll receive an email letting you know that the receipt was issued and that it's available on the City Government website. The letter includes the link, Corporate Taxpayers' Registry (CNPJ) of the service provider, the receipt number, and the verification code for accessing the receipt. It's important that you keep your registration information updated to avoid mail delivery problems.

Obtain a voucher

Receipts concern the services provided during a given month, and not the payment of a specific boleto. Each receipt is issued to collect the applicable taxes on the services provided.

As a result, this amount might differ from the amount deposited through the boleto. Please note, however, that all the funds remaining in your account can be used during the following months and will be included in the receipts related to the date on which the service was provided.

If you’d like to get a voucher of the total amount paid by bill, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your AdWords account at http://adwords.google.com.
  2. Click the gear icon and choose Billing.
  3. Click the Transaction history link on the left menu. (If you want to see the billing summary associated with a specific period, select the corresponding months and years on the drop down menu at the top of the page and click OK.)
  4. Click Payment Received for any line item that reflects a charge made to your account.
  5. On your browser menu, select File and Print.
  6. Click Print.
Delays

All paid boletos are processed within three business days. If your balance isn't updated after three days, please contact us and attach digital copies of your proof of payment and the respective boleto. The document must be legible and include your Customer ID and name. Once we have received your proof of payment, we will investigate the issue.

Keep in mind
  • Check your prepaid account balance regularly to make sure that you don't run out of funds. Make more payments as needed. When your Google AdWords prepayment balance is running low, we'll email you to let you know to make an additional payment.
  • You might be able to make payments at your local bank or online. Some banks accept boleto payments through their websites using the boleto reference number. Contact your bank to determine your options for paying a boleto.
  • Your bank shouldn't charge you a processing fee. However, if for some reason your bank imposes a fee or is unable to complete the transaction, another local bank may be able to provide more suitable options.

Funds transfer

With funds transfer, you can make a manual payment using an ATM or your bank, and the payment will typically be credited to your account within three business days.

Requirements

To use this payment method, you'll need an AdWords account with a business address in Japan, and Japanese Yen (JPY) selected as your account's currency.

Setup

Here's how to make a payment to your AdWords account using funds transfer:

  1. Sign in to your AdWords account at http://adwords.google.com.
  2. Click the gear icon and choose Billing.
  3. Click the Make a payment button. The minimum payment amount is JPY 1,000.
  4. Select Funds transfer. If you don't see it as an option, click the Add a new payment method link to see it.
  5. Use the bank information provided to make an ATM or funds transfer payment, which can be done in person or via your bank's website.

Bank transfers will typically be credited to your account within three business days. To allow for faster processing, we've assigned a unique bank account number to your AdWords account. Your payment must be sent to this unique bank account number each time you initiate a bank transfer or ATM payment. This bank account information can be found on your AdWords account's Billing settings page, in the fields labeled Beneficiary account number and Branch code.

What to expect

Funds will typically be credited to your AdWords account within three business days, but it can sometimes take longer. Be sure to keep all payment records and receipts until you see that the payment has reached your AdWords account.

Processing time: Usually three business days, but it can take longer. That's because a transfer depends on a number of factors, including your bank's processes.

Delays

If you're worried that your payment is taking too long, there are a couple things you can do to check that it's on its way:

  • Check that your funds have been withdrawn from your bank account. If they haven't, contact your bank.
  • Check with your bank that the funds were transferred to the correct account. The account number should be the same as the one listed in our payment instructions (generated when you made a funds transfer payment in your AdWords account).

If it's been over five business days since you initiated the transfer and you still don't see your payment, you can contact us. You'll need to include a valid proof of payment with this form (by clicking the "Choose File" button). Click the link below to see more about a valid proof of payment:

Requirements

You can use this payment method if you have a billing address and bank account in India, and if you've selected the Indian Rupee (INR) as your AdWords currency.

Set up and make payments

Click the links below to see steps about the following:

Set up cheque or demand draft for your account
  1. Sign in to your AdWords account at http://adwords.google.com.
  2. Select the gear icon and choose Billing.
  3. Click Billing Preferences.
  4. Select India from the drop-down menu.
  5. Fill out the second page and click Continue.
  6. Read and accept the Terms and Conditions. Click Continue.
  7. Fill out the required fields.
  8. Click Save and Activate.

Your ads will run after you've made your first payment. Once they do, make sure to check your account balance regularly. When your balance runs low (about 30% of your funds left), we'll send you an email reminding you to make an additional payment.

Make a payment using cheque or demand draft

Without the 10-digit reference number, payments can't be applied to your account and your ads might stop serving. Find it by clicking the gear icon then Billing, clicking on Billing settings link on the left, and then finding your cheque. You'll see a 10 digit number next to the "Make checks payable to" field.

  1. Sign in to your AdWords account at http://adwords.google.com.
  2. Select the gear icon and choose Billing.
  3. Click Make Payments.
  4. Write out a cheque or demand draft for the amount that you'd like to add to your AdWords account. The minimum amount for a manual payment is 500 INR.
  5. Make the cheque or demand draft out to the name shown in the Payable to field. Make sure you include the 10-digit reference number (called VAN) after Google India Pvt Ltd.
  6. Send your cheque or demand draft -- either by courier or by physically dropping it off -- to any of the addresses listed below or on your Make Payments page. Be sure to include your print out with it.
  7. Once your check is received by Citibank, it'll be processed and matched to your Google AdWords account. Your account balance will be updated as soon as the payment is applied, and you'll receive an email when this happens.

Finding your reference (VAN) number
If you need to know what your AdWords reference number is, click the link below:

Steps for finding your reference (VAN) number
  1. Sign in to your AdWords account at http://adwords.google.com.
  2. Select the gear icon and choose Billing.
  3. Click Billing settings on the side navigation bar.
  4. Locate the PAY field. Your reference number is the 10-digit number following Google India Pvt Ltd.

Make sure that you add your reference number to "Google India Pvt Ltd" when you make out all cheque and demand draft payments. If you don't, we may not be able to match your payment to your AdWords account. Also, be sure to include your print out with your payment.

What to expect

It takes about 10 to 15 business days to process your cheque once we receive it. When we do, we'll update your account balance to reflect the payment. Your ads will typically start running at that point, if they weren't already.

When sending your cheque or demand draft, be sure to include the Unique Reference Number (also called VAN).

Making a payment by funds transfer
  1. Sign in to your AdWords account at http://adwords.google.com.
  2. Click the gear icon and choose Billing.
  3. Click the Make a payment button. Make sure Funds transfer is selected, then click Make a payment.
  4. You'll see options for two different types of funds transfers: ATM or online bank transfers, and offline bank transfers.
  5. If you make your bank transfer online or by using an ATM, use the unique virtual bank account number and bank code in the Option 1 instructions. ATM payments have an NT$30,000.00 per-day or per-transaction limit, depending on the ATM.
  6. If you make your bank transfer offline (by visiting a bank branch in person), use the customer name, unique virtual bank account number, beneficiary name, and beneficiary bank and branch name in the Option 2 instructions.

It's important that you make all bank transfer payments using the exact information listed on the instructions. If you don't, we may not receive your payment or may not be able to match the payment to your AdWords account.

What to expect

Once we receive your funds transfer, we'll send you an email. You ads will typically start running then if they had stopped or if this is your first payment. If you're refreshing your balance, your ads will continue running.

Processing time: 2-5 business days, depending on your location. In some cases, it can take up to 30 days. That's because a funds transfer depends on a few factors, including local bank processes. Please keep all records of a payment until you see that it has reached your AdWords account.

If it's been over 1 week since you initiated the transfer and you still don't see your payment reflected in your account, you can contact us. You'll need to include a valid proof of payment with this contact form (by clicking the "Choose File" button). Click the link below to see more about a valid proof of payment.

How to include a valid proof of payment

  • It can be a scanned copy of your receipt or a screenshot of your bank's online statement.
  • It must be in an uneditable format, such as .jpg, .gif, or .png.
  • It must include the following information:
