Sudden drop in CTR - Established Site

Hello,

We run a large and established news website. The site is nearly 8 years old and has an established Google footprint. The site has a pagerank of 6 and is also on Google News. We are based in United States most of our traffic is US traffic. We have had consistent AdSense earnings for years.

Today, our CTR dropped to 0.08% from a daily average of 2%. We went from averaging nearly 200 clicks a day to under 10 clicks today. Our traffic is still high and nothing else changed from our end.

We have never had a problem with invalid clicks. Google seems to be invalidating all clicks today on our site. Something has to be wrong here. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

May sound like a silly question but are you sure the ads are still showing on your site & if they are have you verified that it's your publisher ID is in the ads in the source code on your site?

We have same issue on 31 May and today also. Clicks count and revenue dropped in 10 times. Also I see that Estimated earnings not stable and looks like google just does not save clicks of our visitors!
I hope it will be fixed because it is kill our bussines.

We are currently facing the same, I hope it is some technical issue. We are running serious site in Czech Republic with stable traffic from all over the world (mostly Central Europe), we use no aggressive ad formats, using no cheats, we had no problems with invalid clicks.

The problem however hits only one place with one ad type, other seem to be performing in standard way. But this is our most important one, showing around 2 million ads per month. It had absolutely stable CTR, yesterday it dropped to almost zero and stays so.

The ads are apparently being clicked as the adsense interface shows gain in revenue, but then it drops where it was. Like the clicks were invalid, but it is a nonsense, we reach about 500 000 visits per month and noone from our team is clicking ads on our site. We tried some changes in ad formats etc., but nothing helped.

I am quite desperate about it. It is not our key revenue, but we are using all the adsense revenue for our advertising and now we have almost nothing to spend...

Strange that traffic and page reviews are stable. But clicks count dramatically decreased. I hope it is bug in last update. I have checked one more client account and see same issue.

We are a a 6 year old established site and are experiencing the exact same issues. Stable traffic and dramatic decrease in revenue and clicks. Revenue keeps fluctuating as well when I check through the day. It's like the clicks disappear and we see reduced earnings from earlier. Strange.

We are experiencing the same thing and it started yesterday. We dropped from an average of 0.69% to 0.16%. It appease that the ads running on our boating and marine related site are not relevant.

Earnings seems to be back up today. Good CPC and good CTR. What happened yesterday? This seriously makes no sense. This has to have been a technical glitch. There is no way so many quality sites would stop registering valid clicks on the same day.

Wonder how many people worked on 30 day campaigns last month!

I don't believe this is the reason, see CTR of our key advertising place in last three weeks. I can a post a one year graph, it is almost stable. Now it is almost zero, I have never experienced such drop - it is more than 90 percent. And there are still appearing and disappearing clicks through all the day...
