Activating your AdSense account

What to do if AdSense can't activate your account

To find out why your AdSense account can't be activated, sign in to AdSense or read the email we sent you. Below, we've collected the most common issues and the next steps you should take:

  • There was a problem with your site's content

Please review our program policies and prohibited content guidelines to make sure your site complies with our policies. Keep in mind that we may review all pages of your site, not just the sign-up URL where you placed the code. After you've adjusted your content, sign in to AdSense and confirm that you've resolved the policy issues on your site. We'll proceed with activating your AdSense account.

  • You have two AdSense accounts

AdSense policies only allow one account per publisher. After you've closed the other account, sign in to AdSense and confirm that it's closed. We'll then proceed with activating your AdSense account.

Publishers whose accounts have been terminated for invalid traffic or policy violations will not be allowed to open a new AdSense account according to the AdSense Terms and Conditions.

Insufficient content
  • Your site was found to have too little text, and/or your site was deemed to be "under construction." Sites should have sufficient high quality content in order to provide meaningful user experiences and allow us to serve well-targeted ads to users.
  • To be approved for AdSense and show relevant ads on your site, your pages need to have enough text on them for our specialists to review and for our crawler to be able to determine what your pages are about.
  • Make sure that your pages have sufficient text - sites that contain mostly images, videos or Flash animations may not be approved.
  • Your content should contain complete sentences and paragraphs, not only headlines.
  • Ensure that your site is fully built and launched before you apply for AdSense - don't apply while your site's still in an "under construction" phase or only consists of a site template.
  • Place the ad code on a live page of your site. It does not have to be the main page, but test pages that are empty except for the AdSense ad code will not be approved.
  • Provide a clear navigation system for your visitors so that they can easily find all of the sections and pages of your site.
  • Review your site's pages to see if they're ready for AdSense.
Content quality issues
  • Your site currently has content quality issues. We believe that there isn't enough original, rich content that would be of value to users.
  • It's important for sites displaying Google ads to offer significant value to the user. As a publisher, you must provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.
  • Don't place ads on auto-generated pages or pages with little to no original content.
  • Your site shouldn't participate in affiliate programs without adding sufficient value to users. Affiliate program content should form only a minor part of the content of your site if the content adds no additional features.
  • Review the Webmaster Guidelines for for more help on how to provide a positive experience for your users.
  • Review the Create valuable content, Scraped content, Little or no original content articles for more information about high quality content.
  • Review your site's pages to see if they're ready for AdSense.
Issues with your traffic sources
  • Your site currently has issues with its traffic sources.
  • Google ads may not be placed on pages receiving traffic from certain sources. For example, publishers may not participate in paid-to-click programs, send unwanted emails or display ads as the result of the action of any software application. Also, publishers using online advertising must ensure that their pages comply with Google's Landing page quality guidelines.
  • Review the AdSense program policies for more information on how to stay compliant.
  • Review the Webmaster Guidelines for more help on how to provide a positive experience for your users.
Unsupported language
  • The majority of your site's content is in a language AdSense does not currently support. Right now, we're only able to offer language support and ad targeting for these supported languages.
  • Consider translating your site to be in a language that is supported by AdSense and resubmitting your application with the revised site.
  • If you manage or own another site in one of our supported languages, feel free to resubmit your application with that site.
Content policy violations
Site navigation issues
  • During our review of your site, we found your site difficult to navigate.
  • Your site should provide a good user experience through clear navigation and organization. Users should be able to easily click through your pages and find the information they're seeking.
  • Potential navigation issues include: redirects, pages behind a login or restricted access, broken links, excessive pop-ups, dialers, and pages under construction or not yet launched.
  • Review the AdSense program policies for more information.
  • Review your site's pages to see if they're ready for AdSense.
