Ad units—heat map

See the best performing ad units on your site. You can choose three metrics at a time, including all the standard monetization metrics such as estimated earnings, impressions, clicks, Active View Viewable, etc.

Compare the earnings performance of your top ad units over a set interval, e.g., week-over-week, month-over-month, etc.

Performance

See your key monetization metrics, including how often people are viewing your sites and clicking on your ads, and how much money you're making from each visit and each click on an ad.

Key features

In this card you can:

  • See your key performance metrics compared to a previous time period.
  • View the following metrics:
    • Page views: A page view is generated every time a user views a page displaying Google ads.
    • Page RPM: Page RPM is the average earnings per thousand page views.
    • Impressions - An impression is counted for each ad request that returns at least one ad to the website.
    • Clicks: The number of times that a user clicked on an ad.
    • CPC: Cost-per-click (CPC) is the amount that an advertiser pays each time a user clicks their ad.
    • Page CTR: The page clickthrough rate (CTR) is the number of ad clicks divided by the number of page views.

    Beneath each metric are two small charts showing how that metric has changed. The darker shade shows the current time period, and the lighter shade shows the comparison time period.

Platforms

Top movers

Shows the segments of your traffic that drove the biggest change in your earnings over the time period being compared. For example, a top mover could be your right side ad unit on desktops in the U.S.

  • Use the date range selector to change the time period for which you’d like to see your top movers.
  • Click View top mover to open a detailed report for the segment that changed the most in your Reports page.
