This article reviews the common issues you may encounter when linking your AdMob app(s) to Firebase, and the resources you can use to troubleshoot those issues.
What linking issues are you having with Firebase?
- Can't link to Firebase. Check your permissions.
- Can't link your app to Firebase. Refresh the page and try again.
- Reached the limit of projects in Firebase
- Failed to create a new Firebase project
- Failed to create a new Firebase app
- Don’t have access to Google Analytics for Firebase from this AdMob account

Can't link to Firebase. Check your permissions.
To link to an AdMob app to Firebase, ensure your Google Account has the appropriate administrative roles across AdMob, Firebase, and Google Analytics:
- AdMob: Administrator permissions.
- Firebase: '
firebase.links.create'IAM permission (included in the Owner or Firebase Admin roles). - Google Analytics: Administrator or Editor role on the Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property or account.
How to check and grant Google Analytics permissions:
- Sign in to Google Analytics using an account that has Administrator access to the property or account.
- Click Admin (the gear icon in the lower-left navigation).
- Under the Account or Property column, select the account or property associated with your Firebase project.
- Click Property Access Management (or Account Access Management).
- Verify that your email address is listed with either the Administrator or Editor role. If not, edit the permissions or ask an Administrator to assign you the Administrator or Editor role.
- Return to AdMob, refresh the page, and reopen the Firebase linking modal.
Can't link your app to Firebase. Refresh the page and try again.
AdMob had problems connecting to Firebase when you tried to link your app. Refresh the page and try linking your app again.
If you still have issues:
- Confirm that you're using the same email address for both AdMob and Firebase.
- Confirm that the project you're linking to hasn't been deleted.
Reached the limit of projects in Firebase
There is a limit to the number of projects a Firebase account may create. If the limit has been reached, you'll receive an error when you try to link an AdMob app to a new project.
This error is most commonly triggered if you try to create more than 11 projects within the first 24 hours of linking your first AdMob app to Firebase.
Failed to create a new Firebase project
A new Firebase project couldn’t be created at this time. For example, this may mean that AdMob had trouble connecting to Firebase, or your Firebase account may have reached the project limit.

Don’t have access to Google Analytics for Firebase from this AdMob account
Another user has already linked an app from your shared AdMob account to Firebase, but you haven’t been granted access to the Google Analytics for Firebase data.
To gain access to the Google Analytics for Firebase data, you need to contact that user and ask them to grant you access through the Firebase console.

Existing Firebase app or project doesn't appear for linking
When attempting to link an app, you may find that the option "Link to an existing Firebase app and project" is missing, or no existing apps appear in the dropdown
This occurs when your account has Owner/Admin permissions in Firebase and AdMob, but lacks the Administrator or Editor role directly in the underlying Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property. When Google Analytics permissions are insufficient, AdMob cannot retrieve eligible app streams and hides the option to select an existing app.
To resolve this issue, grant your Google Account the Administrator or Editor role under Property Access Management in Google Analytics, then refresh the AdMob console.
