Block ads by sensitive category

This information is for AdMob users only. AdMob is a mobile app advertising platform for app developers. If you don't have an AdMob account, we recommend you:

In AdMob, you can prevent ads from specific sensitive categories from showing up in your apps. Sensitive category blocking is available for ads in a limited set of languages, regardless of the app language.

Ads are classified automatically and don't rely on advertiser-provided categorization. This technology makes its best attempt to filter ads from the categories; however, it's not guaranteed to block every related ad. If you find an undesired ad on your app, you can block that ad by URL.

The maximum number of categories you can block is 50. You might find that some general categories overlap with some sensitive categories.

Complete the following steps to block ads by sensitive category:

App-level blocking

  1. Sign in to your AdMob account at https://apps.admob.com.
  2. Click Apps in the sidebar.
  3. Select the name of your app. If you can't find it in the list of recent apps, you can click View all apps to search a list of all of the apps you've added to AdMob.
  4. Click Blocking controls under the name of your app in the sidebar.
  5. Click Manage Sensitive categories.
  6. Use the controls on the page to allow or block categories. Changes are automatically saved on selection.
