Why am I seeing this reminder?

To be consistent with data protection laws, we're asking Google users to review and agree to certain key points of our Privacy Policy. This isn't about a change to the Privacy Policy.

Understanding your privacy is important. Reviewing the Privacy Policy helps you understand:

  • What information Google collects, why we collect it, and how we use it
  • What choices you have for controlling your information

When will I see this reminder?

You might see the privacy reminder when you're:

  • Signing in to a Google service, like Gmail
  • Using a Google service, like Search, Maps, or YouTube

Note: The Privacy Policy covers many Google services, not just the one you're using when you see it.

What does the reminder say?

The message you see will be different depending on whether or not you're signed in to your Google Account, because the data Google collects is different in these cases. See what the privacy reminder looks like if you're signed in to your account.

When I see this reminder, what options do I have?

When you read the privacy reminder, you'll have several options.

Once you review the entire reminder and click "I agree" at the bottom, you'll be taken back to the Google service you were using when you saw it.

Note: You have to scroll through the entire reminder before clicking "I agree."

Take information out of your Google Account

You're in control of your data. You can download your data from many Google services to use it elsewhere, or keep a copy for your records.

Visit the Download your data page to get started. If you have any questions about the process, visit the download your data FAQ.

Delete your Google Account

After reviewing your choices, if you decide you don't want Google to process your data as described in the Privacy Policy, you can delete your Google Account.

If you don't have a Google Account, you can stop using Google services at any time. You can also use many Google services, like Search and Maps, without a Google Account, though you will still see the privacy reminder.

Important: Before you delete your account

If I delete my account, what happens to the content I've purchased?

If you delete your account, you won't be able to access certain content on Google Play or YouTube. This includes things like movie purchases or rentals that haven't expired yet, subscriptions to services like Google Play Music, and apps you’ve bought on Google Play.
