The YouTube TV app works with certain accessibility features. Accessibility support is available for blind and low vision members via the TalkBack and BrailleBack apps.

Getting started

Detailed instructions for signing up and using YouTube TV can be found in the Help Centre article sign up and customise YouTube TV.
Once you have signed up:
- Download YouTube TV on your TV or streaming device.
- Note: Our TV app is currently available on selected devices. Visit our Watch YouTube TV on your TV help article for information on supported devices.
- Open the YouTube TV app.
- Sign in with the account that you used to sign up for YouTube TV.
Navigate the app
The main tabs in YouTube TV are Home, Library and Live.
- The Home tab has recommendations for what to watch on YouTube TV. These recommendations are based on your watch history on YouTube TV and YouTube. You'll find a combination of live TV shows, on-demand programmes and YouTube videos.
- Live is where you can scroll through networks (for example, Fox) to see which programmes are on right now. Select any programme to watch the live airing.
- The Library tab is where you can watch saved recordings.
Note: You can scroll both vertically and horizontally in YouTube TV. If you scroll vertically, you'll find different types of programmes and categories. To scroll horizontally, click the arrow. Scroll horizontally to find related programmes on a specific topic, like sports.
Sign in to your account
- Open the YouTube TV app on your TV or streaming device.
- Enter the account and password information associated with your YouTube TV membership.
- Select Sign in.
Sign out of your account
- In the YouTube TV app, select your profile picture.
- Select your account username again.
- From the available menu, select Sign out.
Search for shows, events and movies
In the search bar, you can search for shows, movies, sports teams, events, actors, networks and more.
To search:
- Select the search field from any screen.
- Enter a search term into the search field, and hit enter.
Turn on closed captions
Note: If content owners don't provide closed captions, YouTube TV doesn't show any closed captions, even if this setting is turned on.
- If closed captions are available for a programme, you'll see the CC button next to the progress bar in the video player or in the overflow menu
in the video player.
- To turn on closed captions using your smart TV device, hit down to pull up the player controls. Then, scroll to select the CC icon.
- For on-demand programmes, you can adjust how captions appear in the video player.
- Closed captions are not available in a collapsed view on a web browser.

Once you've signed up, go to tv.youtube.com on your computer or open the app to get started. If you haven't already, sign in with the Google Account associated with your YouTube TV membership.
Navigate the app

Notes:
- In the YouTube TV mobile app, you can press down on your screen on any page to open a menu. The menu includes various actions, like adding a programme to your library.
- You can scroll both vertically and horizontally in the YouTube TV app. Vertical scrolling will show you different types of programmes and categories. Horizontal scrolling will show you related programmes on a specific topic, like sport.
Sign in to your account
- In the YouTube TV app, select Sign in.
- Select or enter the information for the account associated with your membership.
- Enter your password and any other verification information required.
Sign out of your account
- In the YouTube TV app, select your profile picture.
- Select your account username again.
- From the menu that appears, select Sign out.
Search for shows, events and movies
In the search bar, you can search for shows, movies, sports teams and more.
To search:
- From any screen, select the search field.
- Type a search term into the search field.
- If you'd like to search by voice, select the microphone on the right side of the search bar.
Turn on closed captions
Note: If content owners don't provide closed captions, YouTube TV doesn't show any closed captions, even if this setting is turned on.
- If closed captions are available, you'll find CC in More
- Select CC, then select a caption track.
- For on-demand programmes, you can change how captions appear within Settings
.
- For live programmes, closed captions can't be customised.
- Closed captions are not available on the mini-player on your mobile device.
