Change text & display settings

Important:

You can also find accessibility settings in quick settings, where you can quickly change your preferred text and content settings.

Tip: These settings can also be set up from the start in the setup wizard.

Change display size & text

Important: The font size setting doesn't apply to some apps.

To make your font size smaller or larger:

  1. On your device, open the Settings app.
  2. Search and select Font size.
  3. To change your preferred font size, move the slider left or right.

To make your display size smaller or larger:

  1. On your device, open the Settings app.
  2. Search and select Display size.
  3. To change your preferred display size, move the slider left or right.

Tip: You will find a preview of the change of your font and display sizes after you've set each slider to your preferred size and if you don't like it, to reset your settings, tap Reset settings. Your display size and text preferences will reset to the original setting of your device.

Use Quick Settings to adjust font

Important: If you adjust the font size from "Settings," the Font Size tile will be automatically added in Quick Setting. If you haven’t done it yet, you must first add Font Size to Quick Settings. Learn more about Quick Settings.

  1. From the top of the screen, swipe down to find Quick Settings.
  2. Tap Font Size.
  3. Choose your preferred font size:
    • To increase the font size: Tap .
    • To decrease the font size: Tap .
    • To adjust the font size: Drag the percentage slider left or right.

Tip: You can adjust font size up to 200%.

Use bold fonts
Important: Some apps won't use this setting.
You can use bold font to improve visibility.
  1. On your device, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Display size and text.
  3. Turn Bold text on or off.
Use high contrast text
High contrast can make text easier to read on your device. This feature changes the text color to either black or white, depending on the original text color.
  1. On your device, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Display size and text.
  3. Turn High contrast text on or off.
Use color correction
Color correction and grayscale settings help your device compensate for color blindness. 
  1. On your device, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Color and motion and then Color correction.
  3. Turn Use color correction on.
  4. Choose a correction mode.

Use color inversion
Important: Color inversion reverses the color on the screen, and applies to everything including media.
  1. On your device, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Color and motion and then Color inversion.
  3. Turn Use color inversion on.
Tip: You can make a shortcut for color inversion. Learn about accessibility shortcuts.

Use dark theme & color inversion together

  • Android 10 and up: If you open an app that doesn't support a dark theme, turn on color inversion.
  • Android 9 and lower: You can use only one of these settings at a time. If you turn on dark theme, color inversion automatically turns off.

Change motion settings

Remove animations
You can turn off animations to help you focus.
  1. On your device, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Color and motion.
  3. Turn Remove animations on.
Use large mouse pointer
You can make the mouse pointer bigger so it's more noticeable.
  1. On your device, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then Color and motion.
  3. Turn Large mouse pointer on.
Dim your screen
You can dim your screen beyond your phone's minimum brightness so it's more comfortable to read.
  1. On your device, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Accessibility.
  3. Turn Extra dim on.
