Track user data transfer

When your students graduate, you can track their transfer of data from their G Suite for Education account to another Google Account in the Graduation audit log.

Open the Graduation audit log

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. From the Admin console Home page, go to Reports.
  3. On the left, under Audit, click Graduation.
  4. (Optional) To customize what you review, on the right, click Manage columns Manage columns, select the columns that you want to see or hide, and click Save.

Data you can view

Data Type Description
Event Name The name of the event that was logged
Event Description Details of the event described in the Event name field
User User who performed the action that triggered the event
Date

Date and time the event occurred (displayed in your browser's default time zone)

Migration start time Time that the data migration started
Migration completion time Time that the data migration completed
Percent of Drive items migrated Percentage of Drive files migrated
Percent of Gmail messages migrated Percentage of Gmail messages migrated

Event name descriptions

At Add a filter, select an Event name to filter data for that event. The audit report will show log entries for each time that the event occurred during the time range that you set. The event names are self-explanatory. For example, if you select Started migration of data, your report will show a log entry for each time data migration started. You can also filter by username.
