If you set up organizational units in the Google Admin console, all child organizations inherit the automatic licensing setting of their parent. However, you might be able to override the parent setting. For details, go to When can you use automatic licensing?
Note: If you use Google Cloud Directory Sync, you must pick one way to automatically assign licenses—either the option in the Google Admin console described here or with Google Cloud Directory Sync.
Set automatic licensing options
Set an organization to override its parent setting-
Sign in with an administrator account to the Google Admin console.
If you aren’t using an administrator account, you can’t access the Admin console.

Next to each of your subscriptions, the Automatic licensing field shows whether automatic licensing is turned on or off for the entire organization and for any child organizations.
- At the left, click the name of the organization.
- Point to your subscription
click Edit

- Click the Down arrow
and select On or Off.
- Click Override.
When you revert an override, the organization inherits the automatic licensing setting from its parent.

Sign in with an administrator account to the Google Admin console.
If you aren’t using an administrator account, you can’t access the Admin console.

- At the left, click the name of the organization.
- Point to your subscription
click Edit
.
- At the left, click Inherit
Confirm.
You can switch an overriding organization’s automatic licensing setting from on to off, or vice versa. In this case, the new setting takes effect regardless of the overall organization or parent setting.
