Handle incomplete results from Email Log Search
You might see the following warning as a result of a search:
"Your search is too wide to show all the messages. Consider narrowing the search criteria."
This warning typically appears when searching for a single message with a large number of recipients.
The Email Log Search tool can retrieve:
A maximum of 1,000 messages
- No more than 15,000 log entries per message
Log entries for a message show delivery states, such as "Received from an SMTP server" or "Delivered to Gmail inbox." Learn about interpreting message details with Email Log Search.
A single message has an average of 5–7 log entries per recipient. Therefore, some messages sent to large groups with many recipients might have more than 15,000 log entries.
How can I get more accurate results?
Specify only the recipient of the message. If a message was sent to many users, then perform a new search, including the message ID and the one recipient you are interested in investigating. The search results will focus the search on the one details for this one recipient.
You can also narrow your search by adding other search conditions or by selecting a smaller date and time range.
