If you use Email Log Search to find and troubleshoot missing messages, you can use the Details page to help evaluate message delivery.
- Perform an email log search.
- On the search results page, click a message’s subject (or message ID) to see more details.You'll see Message details, Post-delivery message details, and Recipient details.
This section shows the message subject, sender, and other information:
- Sender—Email address that sent the message. If a delegated user sent the message on behalf of the Sender's account, the delegate's email address is also shown.
- Recipient—This can be one or multiple recipients. Click the triangle to show all recipients.
- Date—Either the date the message is reported to be sent or the first time a log search entry appears.
Message ID—A unique identifier given by the mail processing system. The identifier appears in the message header.
SMTPIN_ADDED_REJECT_SESSIONappears anywhere in the Message ID field, and the other fields show N/A, both of these are true:
- The mail system can't determine the message ID.
- SMTP relay rejected relaying the message.
- Message size—The total size of the message including attachments.
- Attachments—The number of files attached to the message.
- Direction—Indicates whether the messages was outgoing (Sent), incoming (Received), or sent and received within your domain (Mixed).
- Expand results to all recipients— When this option appears, it means your search criteria are limiting the display of all recipients for a particular message. Click the option to override your search criteria and display all other recipients of the email.
For each recipient, this section shows the post-delivery status of a message. This is the status of a message in a user's mailbox, or an indication that the message has been deleted.
Note: Not available for external, deleted, and non-Gmail accounts.
This section shows a message's delivery history. Click an email address to expand the steps. The date/time and delivery state is shown for each step.
- The times shown represent the time zone of the computer you used to conduct the search.
- The IP address information shows where an email was received from or sent to. If a message was received via aspmx.l.google.com, it shows the IP address of the SMTP server that sent the message. If the message was received from a web user, it shows the source IP of the browser that sent the message.
- You can also see if the message was encrypted via Transport Layer Security (TLS), and if it was delivered or marked as spam.
- Click Back to results to switch from message details back to your search results.
Note: The same message can have a different delivery state for each recipient.
