If you have the legacy free edition of G Suite, upgrade to Google Workspace to get this feature.
This feature is not available in the G Suite for Government edition.
When a user saves a page as a template, they create a copy of their page that others can use to create new custom pages. The template includes a copy of the page design, structure, and content that others can revise however they want.
With templates, people in your organization can share good designs, build sites more quickly, and promote a common look for sites on your corporate or school intranet.
Public and private template galleries
Google provides a number of templates in a public gallery. Users in your domain can also save templates to your domain's private gallery.
- A corporate manager might create a Product Rollout template for planning product launches.
- A teacher might share a template for posting course information.
- A school group could publish its Events template.
Templates created using classic Sites appear in your organization's private gallery and are available to everyone in your domain.
- Organize templates in categories
Store your domain's templates in categories where people can easily find a particular type of site.
- Create a default blank template for your domain
Include your logo or some other common element in every new blank site.
- Highlight templates you want to feature
Select which templates users see on the site creation page, without having to browse the gallery.
- Disable templates in your domain
Remove the ability for users to use or publish Site templates.
