Google+

Overview

Age requirements for Google+

Your users must be 13 or older to use Google+. If a user who's attempting to sign up for Google+ enters a birthday that indicates he or she doesn't meet the age requirement for Google+, the user's entire Google Apps account—including Gmail and other services—will be disabled. The user won't be able to sign in to his or her Google Apps account.

In case the user entered an incorrect birthday, Google provides a 30-day grace period during which the administrator or user can confirm that the user made an error and submit the correct birthday. After the grace period, a user's suspended account will be permanently deleted.

The administrator feature to verify age is available in Google Apps for Business, Education, and Government editions, and only if the domain has activated Google+ premium features.

If you don’t have access to the administrator feature (or if users want to do this themselves), see the Google Account and Age Requirements FAQ to learn how users over 13 can correct their date of birth. Note that users age 13 through 17 can only correct their age with the assistance of a parent or guardian.

To correct a user’s age and recover a suspended account:

  1. Verify the user’s actual birthday to see if the user made an error. If so, continue with these steps.

  2. Sign in to the Google Admin console
  3. Find the user’s account.

  4. Click Correct user's birth date and enter the user's birthday.

  5. Read the information that you’re asked to verify or acknowledge, and then check the corresponding box or boxes.

  6. Click Submit.

Administrators with Google+ premium features can always correct the age of a user who entered the wrong age, even if the account is not suspended.
