Deleting your Google Apps account

We do not recommend deleting your Google Apps account to address your conflicting account if you are actively using your Google Apps account for your organizational Mail, Calendar events, and other core services. Learn more on what to do if you have a conflicting account.

Your options to delete your Google Apps account will depend on your billing system. Please select the appropriate category below for more information. If you're not sure which system to choose, please see Determining your current billing system.

Annual pre-pay billing
  • If you are still on annual pre-pay billing, you may only cancel your Google Apps account at the end of your subscription period. As long as you do not auto-renew your Google Apps for Business subscription, you'll have an opportunity to cancel Google Apps. You must cancel all subscriptions on your account before you can delete your account.
  • If you have a free trial of Google Apps for Business, you must cancel the free trial before deleting Google Apps.
  • You can't cancel Google Apps if you purchased your domain name from one of Google's domain registration partners while signing up. More information on domain registration.
  • You can't cancel Google Apps for your domain if there are multiple user accounts. You must delete all user accounts except for one administrator in order to complete the instructions below.
  • If you'd like to upgrade to Google Apps for Education, you don't need to cancel your current account. Instead, you can request an upgrade.

Instructions:

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console
  2. Click Domain settings > Account information, and then click Delete Google Apps for [example.com].
  3. Please read the warning messages carefully. If you still want to delete Google Apps, confirm your decision.

It takes seven days to fully delete an account from our system. As a precaution, we'll need to verify that you are the domain administrator before deleting the Google Apps account. You cannot undo this process. You and your users won't be able to retrieve deleted information.

Monthly post-pay billing

If your Admin panel is labeled Google Apps for Business, follow these instructions:

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console
  2. Select Domain Settings > Subscriptions & Billing.
  3. Click the Cancel Google Apps for Business link.
  4. Select Delete my domain.
    Note that if you delete your domain, all of your data will be deleted in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. It takes seven days to fully delete an account from our system.
  5. If you selected the Annual Plan, you will be billed a closeout charge (listed at the bottom of the page for your review) which is the value of the remainder of your annual plan. You will receive a final bill for the closeout charge.
  6. Click Continue.

If your Admin panel is labeled Google Admin Control Panel, follow these instructions:

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console
  2. Select Domain Settings > General.
  3. Click the Delete link.

    Note: This option is only available if you have already canceled your Google Apps for Business subscription.

  4. Select Delete my domain.
    Note that if you delete your domain, all of your data will be deleted in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. It takes seven days to fully delete an account from our system.
  5. Click Continue.

If your Admin panel is labeled simply Google (new Admin panel), follow these instructions:

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console
  2. Select Settings from the gear menu.
  3. Click Company profile, scroll down to the Account deletion section, and click Delete this account.

    Note: This option is only available if you have already canceled your Google Apps for Business subscription. If you delete your domain, all of your data will be deleted in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. It takes seven days to fully delete an account from our system.

  4. Click Continue.
Free edition (I don't see a billing system)

If your Admin panel is labeled Google Apps, follow these instructions:

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console
  2. Delete all users except for one administrator account.
  3. Select Domain Settings > Account information.
  4. Select Delete Google Apps for [your_domain.com].

If your Admin panel is labeled Google Admin Control Panel, follow these instructions:

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console
  2. Select Domain Settings > General.
  3. Click the Delete link.
  4. Select Delete my domain.
    Note that if you delete your domain, all of your data will be deleted in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. It takes seven days to fully delete an account from our system.
  5. Click Continue.

If your Admin panel is labeled simply Google (new Admin panel), follow these instructions:

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console
  2. Select Settings from the gear menu.
  3. Click Company profile, scroll down to the Account deletion section, and click Delete this account.
    Note that if you delete your domain, all of your data will be deleted in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. It takes seven days to fully delete an account from our system.
  4. Click Continue.

For Google Apps for Education customers, please contact Google Support to request a manual downgrade. In order to delete a Google Apps account, you must delete all users except for one administrator account. Please note that deleting users will delete all associated data, and is unrecoverable. You will want to migrate all data off of Google Apps before deleting users. Please complete these steps before contacting Google Support so we can efficiently process your request.

If you are deleting or canceling a domain in order to add it to another Google Apps account as a domain alias or subdomain, you may have to wait seven days after the domain is deleted before you can add it to another account.
