Hi! I have seen similar reports from Premium members complaining that they are seeing ads when watching YouTube specifically from Smart TVs and other third party devices. Our teams are aware of this issue and are actively looking into it! I'll circle back here with updates when I know more.
Following up here – we did see an increase in reports of Premium members seeing ads on their Smart TVs and other third party devices last week. We also noticed a couple of reports from members on Android mobile devices. As of Feb 26, we have resolved most of these issues.
Some of you may still see ads – this is because sometimes the internet connection can drop and lose track of your info causing ads to show up. Logging in and out of your account can fix the problem. If the problem still persists, we urge you to send feedback here (this goes directly to the Premium team!). I am about to cancel due to this issue. I pay $12 a month to not have ads, yet I still get them! I have premium music too and it's not working either. So annoying
This is what worked for me. In chrome go to 'manage your Google account'. Then under 'security' select 'your devices'. Then sign out of the devices you are currently not logged into. Give it about 5 to 10 minutes for system to sync. Close and open the YouTube app on TV and see if the ads are gone. Good luck hopefully it helps.
