Watch YouTube on TV with Chromecast, Cast and Airplay

You can use your phone, tablet or computer to control the YouTube experience on TV, using the Cast icon  to Cast or Airplay. If you're casting from a mobile device, make sure that you download the YouTube app. Casting from youtube.com in a mobile web browser is not currently supported.

How to watch YouTube on TV with Chromecast, Cast and Airplay

Use Cast or Airplay to watch YouTube on TV 

Before you start: You may need to set up Chromecast.

If you don't have a smart TV or other casting device, you need to set up Chromecast to cast YouTube from your mobile device, tablet or computer to your TV.

  1. Make sure that your phone, tablet or computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your TV device.
  2. If Chromecast or Airplay is available, you'll see the Cast icon on the video player.
    • Note that Airplay is available only on iOS.
  3. Select the Cast icon to Cast or Airplay.
Notes
  • Cast works with any TV device that can support YouTube on TV, not just Chromecast.
  • As a reminder, if you're casting from a mobile device, make sure that you download the YouTube app. Casting from youtube.com in a mobile web browser is not currently supported.
