Monetization icon guide for Creator Studio

This article explains icons in Creator Studio. Learn more about icons in YouTube Studio beta

If your channel is in the YouTube Partner Program, and you’ve turned on ads for your videos, you may see one of the following monetization icons next to your video. Use this reference to understand what the issue might be.

If you think you getting a “limited or no ads” decision is a mistake, you can request human review. Videos that were previously reviewed and have received a final decision should not change. Remember, you should only turn on ads for videos that meet our advertiser-friendly content guidelines.

Meaning Video is not monetized because you haven't turned on monetization for the video or your channel. Video is not currently available for monetization and not eligible to earn revenue from ads or YouTube Premium.
What you can do

If your video is advertiser-friendly, you can turn on ads.

Video is not monetized, but you may be able to appeal

Meaning
  • Our automated systems think your content is not suitable for all brands. If you think that’s a mistake, read our what you can do section below.
  • Our human experts confirmed that your video does not meet our advertiser-friendly content guidelines. It will receive fewer ads but will still earn subscription revenue from YouTube Premium. A human review cannot be overturned.
What you can do

If you feel that your content follows the advertiser-friendly guidelines, you can request human review.

If your video has already been reviewed and confirmed not suitable for advertisers, you cannot request another human review.

The "not suitable for most advertisers" icons do not mean the video is limited in search and discovery. Advertiser preferences are not used to inform how videos display on YouTube. However, just as a video with profanity or violence may not be appropriate for every advertiser, such videos may not be widely recommended across all viewers.
