Localising video metadata

These features are only available to partners using YouTube's Content Manager to manage their copyrighted content.

You can add translated video titles and descriptions to your videos. This helps make your videos more accessible to fans outside of your home country and helps you build a global audience. Your fans will be able to find your videos by searching in their own language, and we will show the title and description of the video on the watch page and everywhere else on YouTube in the right language, to the right users.

You can localise video metadata using the YouTube user interface, or you can upload a CSV file using the Video – Localisation Update template.

To upload translated video metadata:

  1. Download the Video – Localisation Update template from the Content Delivery Templates page.

  2. Complete the template with your translated data.

  3. Save the file as .csv.

  4. Click the Validate and upload link that appears under CONTENT DELIVERY in the Content Manager left-hand menu.

  5. Click Select files to upload your saved .csv file.

If a red banner with validation errors appears, you need to make corrections in your file, save the changes and re-upload it so that you see a green icon.

  6. Click the Process package button
