Enable paid content

As of September 19, 2017, you can no longer create paid content on YouTube. All your existing paid channels or videos will continue to show until January 1, 2018, and then they'll be made private. Individual videos purchased (not rented) will be accessible to purchasers until January 1, 2023 per purchase terms. Learn more about your options for managing paid content.

Before you can make your videos or channels available to only paying customers, you need to enable paid content for your Google account. Learn more about paid content

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to create paid content, you must meet these requirements:

Steps to enable paid content

Use these steps to enable the option to create paid videos or channels for your account.

If you need to create a paid video or channel, use our instructions to create paid videos or create paid channels.
  1. Log in to YouTube.
  2. In the top right, click your account icon > Creator Studio.
  3. In the left menu, click Channel > Status and features.
  4. Under "Features," go to Paid content and click Enable. This option is only available if you meet the eligibility requirements.
  5. Read the terms of the YouTube Paid Content Agreement, select the check boxes indicating that you agree to the terms, and click I accept.
If it says that your network needs to sign an agreement with YouTube, someone with Content Manager permissions needs to go to the Settings > Features page, click Enable, and sign the agreement. You can skip the remaining steps.
