Understand AdSense for YouTube's payment timeline

Want to know when you'll get your YouTube earnings? We pay creators through AdSense for YouTube, which operates on a monthly cycle. This guide explains how our payment process works and when you can expect your payment.

How payments work

Your YouTube channel accrues earnings over the course of the month. Once the month ends, we process your estimated earnings from the previous month. During this time, your estimated earnings are subject to adjustments for:

When we're done processing your estimated earnings, we finalise your earnings and, if applicable, deduct taxes from your YouTube earnings for US viewers. If you're outside the US, you may also be liable to pay taxes to your country or region of residence. Check with your local tax authorities for detailed guidance.

We'll post your finalised earnings to your AdSense for YouTube account balance between the 7th and 12th of the month. To view your finalised earnings:

  1. Use a computer to sign in to your AdSense for YouTube account.
  2. On the left, select Settings and then Payments.
Note: If you have a single channel associated with your AdSense for YouTube account, you can also view your payments in the YouTube Studio mobile app.

In your account, you'll notice line items added and updated as your earnings are finalised and then issued for payment. You also might notice other line items for various payments and credits.

If your balance exceeds the payment threshold and you have no payment holds, we'll issue a payment between the 21st and the 26th of the month. The exact time that you get your payment will depend on:

  • Your time zone
  • Whether the 21st falls on a weekend or public holiday
  • Your chosen form of payment

If you have separate payments accounts for AdSense and AdSense for YouTube, each account will need to reach the payment threshold to be paid.

Payments timeline

  • Between the 7th and 12th: earnings for the previous month are posted in AdSense for YouTube
    • Between the 7th and 12th of the month, your estimated earnings for the previous month are finalised and posted to your Payments page. The page will also display any deductions related to adjustments or fees.
  • On the 20th: the total balance must reach the payment threshold and any changes to payment info must be completed
    • Payment threshold: your total balance on the 20th must reach the payment threshold. If your balance does not meet the payment threshold, you won't be paid that month and your balance will be rolled over to the following month.
    • Payment info changes: any changes to your payment info (including removing payment holds) must be completed on or before the 20th. Changes made after the 20th of the month won't take effect until the following month's payment cycle. If you remove a payment hold after the 20th, you won't be paid that month and your balance will be rolled over to the following month.
  • Between the 21st and 26th: the payment is issued and a 'Payment pending' line item will appear on your 'Payments' page.
    • Bank transfer: your earnings have been issued to your banking institution and you'll get your payment up to seven working days after it was issued. If you haven't received it by the end of the month, follow up with your banking institution.
    • Cheque: cheques are posted for eligible accounts. Allow two to four weeks for your cheque to arrive in the post. Arrival times may vary depending on the postal service in your area.
    • Wire transfer: the wire transfer has been initiated. Allow up to 15 working days for the transfer to go through. The length of time that it takes for your wire transfer to arrive in your bank account may vary depending on your banking institution.
    • Western Union Quick Cash: the payment has been sent to Western Union. Your payment will be available for pick up at any Western Union location in your country one working day after it's been issued. Please note that Western Union is no longer available for creators to select when choosing a form of payment.
Note: If the 21st falls on a weekend or public holiday, payments may be issued on the first working day following the 21st of that month.

We may, at any time, withhold payment (beginning from when Google initiates its investigation of potential violations) and/or deduct earnings from your account if we find that you've violated the:

FAQ

Can I be paid early?

No. We can't issue payments outside our normal payment schedule for any reason.

My 'Transactions' page is missing several payments. How can I view my full transaction history?

The default view of your 'Transactions' page will show the last three months of transactions in your account. To view your full transaction history, select All time in the date range selector.
If you'd like to view transactions before your AdSense for YouTube payments account was created, you'll have to check your old AdSense payments account.

My bank transfer was sent to a closed bank account, what do I do?

If your form of payment is a bank transfer and your payment was issued to a recently closed bank account, then the payment will be automatically returned in a few days. When the payment is returned, your earnings will be credited back to your account. If you have a new bank account verified in your account, then your returned payment will be reissued in a few days. You can expect the entire process to take about a week.

Can I get a tracking number for my local courier cheque delivery?

We do not offer tracking numbers for cheque deliveries.

My cheque didn't arrive. How do I get a new cheque?

There are two main reasons why your cheque might not have arrived:
  • The cheque went to the wrong address. In this case, you'll need to change the payee information in your AdSense for YouTube account before you request a new cheque.
  • The cheque may have been misplaced in the postal service of your country.

It takes approximately two to four weeks after the postage date for creators to get their cheque. But it may take longer depending on the postal service in your location. If you need to request a reissue of your cheque, please wait 60 days from the date of issue.

If it's been more than 60 days, you can request a reissue of your cheque:

  1. Sign in to your AdSense for YouTube account.
  2. Click Payments and then Payments info.
  3. On your 'Transactions' page, find the issue date and current status of your cheque. If your cheque still hasn't been cashed after 60 days, a 'Reissue payment' link will surface next to the cheque's status.
  4. Click Reissue payment and confirm that you want to reissue the payment.
  5. A new line item will surface, showing that the cheque has been stopped and that your reissue is in progress.

What is the sender address for Western Union payments?

You can find the sender address on your payment receipt. Bear in mind that Western Union is no longer available as an option for creators when choosing a form of payment. Learn more about receiving payments via Western Union.

Can I change my payment currency?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to change your payment currency.
