While you're watching a video on YouTube, the conversational AI tool lets you interact with AI to learn more about the content. For example, you can ask questions about the video that you're watching or choose a suggested prompt like 'recommend related content'. 

To get started: 

1. Tap Ask .
2. Select one of the suggested prompts, or type your own question.

How does the conversational AI tool on YouTube work?

This tool is designed to provide answers to questions about videos that you're watching. Responses are generated by large language models (LLMs). The LLMs draw on info from YouTube and the web. Learn more about LLMs and generative AI.

Generative AI is experimental technology and is for informational purposes only. Don't rely on AI-generated responses as medical, legal, financial or other professional advice.

What data is collected? How is it used?

When you interact with this tool, we will collect data around your use of the tool, and queries and feedback that you submit. This data helps us provide, improve and develop our products and services. Conversations connected with your Google Account will be deleted automatically after 30 days. 

To help with quality and improve our products, such as the generative machine-learning models that power this tool, human reviewers read, give notes on and process your conversations with this tool. We take steps to protect your privacy as part of this process. These steps include disconnecting your conversations from your Google Account before reviewers see or take notes on them. We also use automated tools to remove personal info, like email addresses and phone numbers. 

Conversations that have been reviewed or annotated by human reviewers aren't deleted automatically after 30 days. These conversations are kept separately and aren't connected to your Google Account. Instead, they're kept for up to three years.

Don't give confidential info, or anything that you wouldn't want a reviewer to see, in your conversations. Info that you give may be used to improve our products, services and machine-learning technologies.

Note: Premium members who signed up to test the tool can leave the experiment at any time.

 

How do I submit feedback about the tool?

If you get an AI-generated response that you feel is unhelpful, unsafe, inaccurate or bad for any other reason, you can let us know by submitting feedback. Your feedback will help this experience improve.

Submit feedback about the tool

To submit feedback:

1. Under a video, tap Ask 
2. Select one of the suggested prompts, or type your own question, to get a response.
3. On a response, select the thumbs up or thumbs down.

If you select the thumbs down, you can optionally share the rationale for your rating.

Report a legal issue

To report a response for legal reasons:

1. On a response, select the thumbs down.
2. Select report legal issues. 
3. Follow the prompts to report a legal issue. 

The feedback is:

• Reviewed by specially trained teams. Human review is necessary to help identify, address and report potential problems raised in feedback, including as required under applicable laws.
• Used in a way that's consistent with our Privacy Policy. YouTube uses this data to provide, improve and develop YouTube products, services and machine-learning technologies, as explained in more detail in our Privacy Policy.

Can I chat with YouTube support through this tool?

No. This tool won't connect you to YouTube support, and it isn't intended to act as support for using YouTube products.

Does YouTube use my conversations to show me ads?

No, your conversations aren't being used to show you ads. If this changes, we will clearly communicate the change to you.
