Add multi-language audio

Multi-language audio allows you to share your videos with a larger audience by giving you the option to add audio in other languages. You can upload additional languages as audio tracks for new or existing videos.

Note: You may not have multi-language audio available. We will continue to roll this feature out to more creators.

Upload multi-language audio tracks

To get started:

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio on your computer.
  2. From the left menu, select Subtitles.
  3. Click the video that you'd like to edit.
  4. Click ADD LANGUAGE and select your language.
  5. Under “Audio,” click ADD.
  6. Click SELECT FILE.
  7. Choose which file to upload. Files must be in a supported audio-only file format and roughly the same length as your video.
  8. Click PUBLISH when you’re ready to upload your audio track.

Note: This feature does not automatically generate dubbed audio tracks. Creators will have to record dubbed audio tracks before uploading.

Replace previously uploaded audio files

If you uploaded a multi-language audio track and want to replace it with a new one:

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio on your computer.
  2. From the left menu, select Subtitles.
  3. Click the video that you'd like to edit.
  4. Under “Audio,” click Delete  for the appropriate language.
  5. Repeat the steps for uploading a new multi-language audio track.

To make your videos accessible to even more viewers, learn more about adding subtitles and captions and translating video titles and descriptions.
