With Smart downloads, recommended videos are automatically added to your library to watch offline. Watch videos on-the-go and discover new content without the hassle of searching. Downloads will stop if you disconnect from Wi-Fi, or if your device’s storage is low.
Turn on Smart Downloads
From your signed-in YouTube Premium account,
- Open the YouTube App.
- Tap your profile picture

- From the Menu
, select Settings.
- Toggle Smart Downloads to on

.Note: Your device must be connected to the internet to begin downloading videos.
Turn off Smart Downloads
From your signed-in YouTube Premium account,
- Open the YouTube App.
- Tap your profile picture
- Tap Downloads
- From the Menu
- Toggle Smart Downloads to off

.Find and watch Smart Downloads
From your signed-in YouTube Premium account,
- Open the YouTube App.
- Tap your profile picture
- Tap Downloads

Smart Downloads.You’ll see a list of recommended videos selected & downloaded for you based on your watch history.
Remove a video from your Smart Downloads
Remove recommended downloads in two ways:
- Under the video player, tap Downloaded
next to the video you'd like to remove.
- Click Delete.
next to the video you'd like to remove.Or
- Tap your profile picture
- Tap the Menu
- Select Delete from downloads.
New videos will be downloaded every 7 days and the previously downloaded videos will be replaced.
Change Smart Downloads quality/resolution
From your signed-in YouTube Premium account,
- Open the YouTube App.
- Tap your profile picture
- Tap Downloads
- From the Menu
- Tap Download quality.
- Select your preferred download quality setting from the options listed.
Adjust your storage settings
From your signed-in YouTube Premium account,
- Open the YouTube App and go to your Settings.
- Tap Background & downloads
- Go to Storage use
- Use the slider to select the amount of storage you’d like your device to use for Smart downloads.
