Since today my search view turned to new awful one with visual garbage with favicons and without urls of website. Now it is hard to focus on each line, becase, every top left corner is vanished by favicon and now it is not possible to see exact url of website, only the name. In addition I hate new blue color. For me it is too saturated to read, I want to get back the old view without favicons with dard blue urls and with website addresses. In order to get the old view I had to sigh out (log out), but how can I get back this normal view, being signed in (logged in)?
It looks like this previously experimental layout has now been launched to all users.

I suggest that you send Feedback directly to the Google Team. It is easy to do, just scroll to the end of the page, click on the "Send feedback" link and follow the prompts.

Right now I've sent them link to this post. Thanks for tip.
I do not have green lines, like on your screenshot, maybe it is some extention or customized setting in your particular browser. Anyway, to me that coloring would be a disaster. I want normal google search result: dark blue clickable title, second url and the third text snipper. That's what I love google for.
Hope, feedback I've sent now will have some effect and my account search results will be as always standard.

The green line is a feature offered by Trend Micro Anti-virus. I can eliminate it at any time. It highlights safe sites. If a link is unsafe it will be maroon.

Same to me, and is not a browser problem, is an account problem, because with my others google accounts, using the sames browsers, in the same computer (i tried with chrome, opera and firefox), this not happens.
I have been looking for the solution to this for 5 hours, before running into this post. I found another post in google support, with another person with the same problem. And take a look for the answer
"Google constantly targets random users with experimental variations to the Search and Image Search interfaces. Sometimes the differences are barely noticeable. Other variations are much more noticeable.
You're probably seeing one of these experiments."
This is the google mobile search design, what is implemented this year. Is really ugly for me, is hard to detect the fake websites, ads website and so on. With the old design, is took me no more for 5 seconds for see if in that search results page are what im looking for. With a quick look the the title (blue) and url part (green), and i mean with "quick look" and less than 1 second i know if that web have the information that i need, or have good possibilities for have. Say in another way, with the old design, i can know what websites are fake, ads, or just traps for propaganda.
Now i cant do that, the mobile design was thinking for lost in the information. Perfect for mobiles, horrible for computers.
Sorry for my bad english.
So my friend, It seems that we are the ones chosen for an experiment.
Because i can't think in a way for this can be a issue, because my others google accounts work with the same search design in the same computer, and the same browsers.

It's really horrible. I've already spent a great deal of time trying to find a way to stop it. Ironically, it's showing up in my Firefox, but not in my Chrome (also not in my internet explorer).

Now 10th Oct it is clear, that my account was subject to some Google testing, cause now my search results are visually fine as they were for years. I am happy google search user again. What a happy, that the nightmare was just a temporally torture.

new design looks horrible, seems like its designed to make all results look like ads to get more ad clicks. Also hiding the website url is bad idea, takes people into fake websites.

This is unacceptable. I don't want favicons and other changes. More: now I wil find A SOFTWARE/PLUGIN THAT ENABLES FONT, LINE SPACING, COLUMN NUMBER AND OTHER SETTINGS CHANGE FOR GOOGLE SEARCH. Do you know such already? (eg. there's a ff/chrome plugin for 2-column s.res. disply). Please plese write the name here! Thank you! [for now, the incognito window solution helps]

Save issue for me, as of November 19, 2019. I reported it to Google, but who knows what that will do.This new layout is horrendous and I cannot stand to look at it. I am staying logged out of my account, but that just ruins a lot of Google services for me that I want to access quickly, like my Gmail + calendar. All of the websites look like ads or hijacked URLs. Please switch it back, or if anyone has a workaround, let us know. Here's a screenshot for an example and some amusement.

I used adblocker plus to block the element on the page with their custom filters.
Here is a quick guide I created. Of course if Google renames the favicon class this filter wont' work anymore and you'd have to update it. But so far it's working fine for me.

Till today everything was great and google search results was classic. But 1 hour ago some terribe shift in view has happened. I tried to login and logout. I tried Google Chrome, Opera, Mozilla Firefox and Maxthon. They all show the new terrible look. I don't know how to roll back the classic view.
My brain does not need favicon of website. It makes understanging of search result terribly worse.
Favicons eat my attention.
I want my attention not on favicons, but on titles of websites and I want to see url of website in green.
The order my eye reads information is 1) title, 2) url, 3) des.

I'm here to complain too. Google, the search page is now unusable. Please give us the option to revert to classic google search results. I'll be logging out for now, but I'll switch to a different search engine if this remains. The functionality is gone & I notice a lot more ads as well. DO. NOT. WANT.

I have found that you can't change this in Google settings. Clearing cache and all the other advice did NOT work for me BUT what did is as follows ...
I use the ABP (adblock plus) extension in Chrome - it's great for this kind of thing. It has a function to block elements on webpages, including in the Google search results.
I specifically wanted to hide JUST the favicon image & keep the URL. ABP couldn't do this directly so I wrote a little ABP filter that does this.
Pick what you want to hide and then in the ABP extension go to Options > Advanced > scroll down to My Filter List and starting adding any of the following filters:
to remove only URL: add google.com##.iUh30.bc.rpCHfe to the list
to remove only favicon: add google.com##.xA33Gc to the list
to remove URL, favicon & that little arrow next to the URL: add google.com##.TbwUpd then add google.com###am-b0 and finally add google.com##.GHDvEf.ab_button to the list
to remove only the little arrow: add google.com###am-b0 and then add google.com##.GHDvEf.ab_button to the list
Refresh and go search for something, effects should should show immediately.

I've read an article today, that Google added facivons to visually blend organic search results and paid ads. The intention behind all this is to make users to differ organic and paid ads results as hard as possible.
Speaking in simple words: Google wants people to click more ads.
Interesting thing for you to know.
In Russia we have a search engine service like Google it is called Yandex.
And Yandex was using favicons for last I guess 7-8 years.
In 2020 Yandex turned favicons off, but they have the same intention as Google. They want to make difference between paid and organic as less as possible.
Russian Yandex just made paid add almost invisible (see screenshot below).
As you see, they do not use any contrast mark like [AD],
They use pretty invisible black on white word [реклама] after green url and that makes AD result almost impossible to differ from organic ones.
I hope that someday google search results will get back to its classic view. I hope that someday they will turn off favicons and make urls green as it was.

Today I've learned how to make Google Chrome Extentions. And now I want to share with you guys with small tutorial how to make your own extention and turn off that awaful favicons from google serp.
Step 1.
Create empty folder, for example at C:\Waybacker
Step 2.
Create empty file and name it manifest.json at C:\Waybacker\manifest.json
Using Notepad text editor add the following code inside this text file.
{
"name": "Waybacker 1.0",
"version": "1.0",
"description": "Remove Google Search Favicons",
"content_scripts" : [
{
"matches" : ["https://*.google.com/*"],
"run_at" : "document_end",
"js" : ["serp-favicon-hider.js"]
}],
"manifest_version": 2
}
Step 3.
Create empty file and name it serp-favicon-hider.js at C:\Waybacker\serp-favicon-hider.js
Using Notepad text editor add the following one line code inside this text file.
Open Google Chrome Browser and in url editline type chrome://extensions/
Click checkbox "Developer Mode"
Click button "Load unpacked extention..."
Unsing filesystem tree widget choose your folder "Wayback"
Waybacker extention is loaded in Google Chrome Browser.
Everything should look like this.
Step 5.
Now it is time to test how it works.
Just open empy tab and try to search anything like "how to write google chrome extention".
If you did everything correct, your search results should come without that terrible favicons.
Everything should look like this.
PROFIT!
Final notes
1. At the second line of code you can customize color of your green.
2. Using "Pack extention..." button, you can create waybacker.crx file and share with someone else or transfer to some other your computers.
3. Theoretically using javascript code it sould be possible to move green url line under the blue title line to achieve the classic google look, but for my knowledge it is not easy right now. To me this look without favicons and green urls is ok workaround to wait when google itself gets back to its classsical view.

Why is the "recommended answer" rarely actually an answer? He's posting that same bit a text on every one of these threads and making it the official answer yet we are looking for an actual solution. I don't get it... How does Google get a bunch of users to carry their water for them like this?

God it looks so bad. I wish this was toggleable or never turned on in the first place. It clutters everything and doesn't really provide more information than what was already there.

This is pure, unadulterated garbage, and it hurts my head trying to parse through the data. It actually borderlines on unusable. I'm unsure what their intent was here, other than to further blur the lines between paid and natural listings, but it's AWFUL. I mean, truly terrible.
For someone who has relied on this search engine for decades, this hurts my brain.

This new search page is horrible. I sent feedback at the bottom of the page. I don't expect it did much good. But the page is so much worse, I may have to look for a new search engine, what a joke to role out a change like this.

I hate it, first time I saw it I scrolled right down to the bottom of the page to get past the ads, wondered why there were so many, had to look a second time to realise they weren't ads. Sorry Google, your search engine now is CRAP. No longer easy on the eye and quick to use, I use Google a lot and I cannot be doing with this, the delight of Google was it's 'basicness'
